  • New to your club...my story

I am re-new to this message board but new to the Club. I have over 100 pounds to lose. I am staying positive and taking things one day at a time. Like anyone all of you who have or had over one hundred pounds to lose it is a longgggg.... term goal and I must remind myself of that daily. Here is a little about me. I am looking for all the assisatance I can get and once I am on my feet I hope to be a ray of sunshine to others

I have read the Book...about 10 years ago I lost about 120 pounds on Atkins. About 6 years ago I lost 50 pounds on Atkins. I was derailed when I was blessed with my litte girl 5 years ago . It was a rough pregnancy but worth it. I was pregnant with tripletts but only my daughter survived so she is my miricle baby I had a lot of complications an we are both happy to be here talking to you today. However, I fell of the WOL when we were short on money and had to resort to rice and beans and whatever was given to us. That was 5 years ago and I have been struggling ever since.

I am older (37) now with a lot of health problems one being chronic fatige. SO....I need more energy and the weight is not helping. I am happy to report that I have been taking a herbal reimene juicing a veggie drink that is helping tremediously with what ailes me. The downfall is I have an automatic deduction of 9 carbs everyday before I even get started... I can deal with that but if you have suggestions on the best way to use those last 11 carbs during induction I am open minded

I decided to start when my 5 year old daughter asked me how come I was not regular size. Then I took a 1/2 mile walk and amazed myself at doing it in 15 minutes. I haven't been able to do a lot since I have been so sick, but things are starting to click.

I can use all the feedback and encouragment since I have a big commitment and a lot to gain and more to lose

Welcome to the group! You'll find alot of people here willing to jump up and give you a hand with whatever you might need. Since you've already done this before, you'll find it fairly simple to follow along. One thing that was brought to my attention at the beginning is that this site follows the 2002 Atkins book..which goes into great detail what is and is not allowed...as well as the reasoning behind the rules and rungs.

Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing how quickly you progress.

      Hey Fair, and welcome!

Yes, lots of friendly folks here willing to offer help, encouragement and advice.

Sorry to hear of your difficulties but glad you have your daughter to make it worth it!

I think one of the biggest things for me is to realize that I am changing my life permanently, and I can't get in a big hurry to just get there and be done with it, if that makes sense. Of course I want to lose quickly, everyone does, but sometimes I don't lose so quickly even when I seem to be doing everything right. I just have to accept that and keep chugging along, and in time it all catches up and evens out.

Since you have done this before, it should be somewhat easier for you than some who are still trying to wrap their head around it and figure out the basics. Just remember you may not lose as fast or in the same kind of pattern as you have in the past, since our bodies, hormones, etc, change over time. Or it could be just like the time before, who knows?

I'm certainly not an expert on Atkins, but I would think as far as the 11 carbs you have left to spend on induction (having used 9 on your veggie juicing), maybe it would be good to spend as many of those as you can on other whole vegetables, the lower carb ones, to get some fiber in, as opposed to spending too awful many on things like cheese, cream, a packet of splenda, etc. That's just my thoughts. Of course, some days that may be easier than others. It will get easier when you get past induction and go up by 5 carbs to 25 a day - then you are only starting out with negative 4, LOL!

Good luck to you, and visit us often. We try to have a daily check in here, so please stop by and post a note if you can. We all need positive encouragement, a good laugh, and someone who understands our issues. Currently, I am stuck with no weight loss for nearly 10 days and am quite aggravated myself, LOL - I know this happens to me, fairly regularly actually, and at some point it will catch up and I will lose several pounds in just a day or so. Still makes the waiting annoying. Coming by to read others thoughts and comments and struggles helps with the wait for me.

Look forward to the fact that as you start to drop the pounds, your health will start improving, no doubt. And that will be good for both you AND your daughter!

Re: New to your club...my story

Welcome back to Atkins and welcome to this board!

Read the book. Read it again. Refer to it often.

Be accountable to yourself and others. Use Fitday or just report in every day as to how you are doing. It is important to do so. You not only share your experiences with others, but if there is a problem or issue, you will be amazed at the support you will get.

No one can guarantee an improvement in one's health, but I can say this. Before I began Atkins, I prayed at night because I was afraid I would close my eyes and not wake up. I was always grateful when I opened my eyes in the morning despite struggles with health and mobility.

My life is nothing short of a miracle these days. Nothing in my life is the same as far as my daily routine. I rarely worry about the food anymore. I have had enough experience feeling badly before Atkins to know that I like the way I feel today. No longer do I need insulin, oral diabetic meds, hypertensive meds, arthritic meds, various inhalers. No longer do I have to test my blood sugar four times a day. No longer do I fear long walks or parking at the edge of a mall parking lot and walking without pain or being breathless.

Do this for yourself. Do this for you miracle baby. You'll be happy when you adopt this as your way of eating for life. It takes guess work out of your day to day life.

        Best wishes.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.
