    I GOT MY INTERNET BACK!!!!!!!

    Hi CC'ers!
Didn't ever expect to see my ugly mug back here did you?!
LOL oh I am so glad to be here typing away to all of you. I have had no internet for awhile. A few months back a lot of stuff happened and I went into a downward spiral. I got laid off from my job and I had to go thru a fight to get my unemployment. Had to turn off stuff we didn't need at the time which included the internet, cell phones, and cable [don't need that anyway]. I basically sat on my butt and went into a depression and gained every single pound back that I had worked so hard to lose! The past week things got better and I realized that I was not put on this earth to sit here and die!! I won my unemployment case and got a small help grant to re-instate the internet since most jobs take online applications now, and my phone. I went shopping yesterday and got everything I needed to begin my journey again! I want to feel the way I felt when I lost those 42 lbs. Even though I have over 150 to lose, just those 41 lbs made a HUGE difference. I want to feel that way again and walk with a bounce in my stride I was scared to come back at first, but I knew my old friends would welcome me back with open arms....and I know the new friends I am going to make will to.
Hope everyone has a wonderful and fanstastic low carb day. I know I will

Welcome back! Sorry to hear about your rough times Tutti, but glad you made it back to us. Technological inequality is a huge issue, it's great to see that some agencies have recognized the important of the internet so that you were able to get a grant to turn it back on.

Re: CC Roll Call Friday Dec 11 2009

      Afternoon everyone -

Trying to restart my current snails pace weight loss, trimming back carbs from low 30s back into the mid 20s to hopefully get things rolling along again. Hadn't meant to go over 30 ever, really, but you know how the carb creep thing happens... 30, then it is 31 or 32, then it is 34 some days... but I looked back over all my stats, and during weeks I have kept my daily carb average anywhere in the 20s (even 29), I have lost weight the following week every single time. Those weeks my average was anything in the 30s, well, the following week was a toss up... maybe lost a pound, often stayed the same, maybe gained a pound or two.

I am kicking it up a notch, so to speak... been sitting here just a few pounds above my next important mini goal for long enough now (going on two weeks?).

      Have a good one everybody.

        Hello everyone!!
I am really keeping myself under control and sticking to the 14-day induction. I have been careful and cautious keeping a food journal.
THEN...I realized I commited a fatal sin.....I went to starbuck and got what I remembered to be an Atkins friendly drink....SF Vanilla, Latte, Breve.. only to find out later after more research that I went WAY over my daily carb count with that one drink. I am was doing so goo too!! I got Pho soup with no noodles only veggies and steak, took snacks with me...ect... then this. I am going to pick-up and move on tomorrow is another day and the positive thing is I know what not to get in the future.

          Hey Fairmaiden!

Aren't lattes made with milk? That's why I stopped with the Lattes when I started Atkins. But what I DID do is buy a cheap espresso machine from Walmart...$ 29.00...back in April. And I started to make my own lattes, it was sure cheaper...and now that I am following Atkins, I stopped the lattes and I make espresso with it. Then I add heavy whipping cream to it, 1-2 Tablespoons. Sometimes I may add a dash of SF Torani Vanilla or SF Chocolate syrup but usually I just add the cream alone. Even though I still have to buy the espresso beans, I am still saving tons of money by making my own.

Re: CC Roll Call Friday Dec 11 2009

I sometimes order an Americano at Starbucks (espresso topped with near boiling hot water), and specifically request they leave some room at the top and use heavy whipping cream for some cream in it (I think otherwise it would have no cream at all). This is a really nice, strong flavored drink and the heavy cream makes it nice and rich and creamy.

Luckily, this is also one of their cheapest drinks, LOL! They sometimes charge me a surcharge for the heavy whipping cream, or at least they used to, but the last however many times I have gotten one, they didn't. Maybe they stopped charging extra for it. Seems like it was 45 cents extra or something. In any case, the medium size, grande or whatever they call it, is about 2 bucks and a half. I suppose you could add some sugar free flavoring to it if you wanted, don't know that for sure but seems reasonable. I haven't so I haven't checked into that (carbs or no carbs for that syrup).

Just an idea I thought I would pass along. I probably should check their website for the carb count, but since it only has 3 ingredients (espresso, water, heavy whipping cream) it has seemed like a fairly safe bet. I haven't noticed it stopping any forward progress the several times I have had one, and I just counted a few carbs for the heavy whipping cream and took that off my daily cream allotment, somewhat guessing at about how much they might have put in there by the taste/color... some baristas are more heavy handed with the cream than others. ;-)

Thank you always2go and mission to lose for your advice and encouragment!! I will definently check into both things. The sugar free syrups they use at starbucks are made with splenda and 0 carbs. Yippy!! Since it is in the liquid form the processing to granalds is out there for the carbs... I got one today coconut and blended it with 3 tablespoons heavy cream, ice and it made a great shake...yummmooo

Tutti! Glad you are back! Missed you. Okay, sad to say I've been doing Atkins on the cheap for awhile. Leg quarters, Boston butts, pork picnics, shoulder steak/roast, chuck, hamburger, country style ribs, pork steaks tend to go on sale more. Canned veggies can work as long as nobody spiked them with sugar. Oh, yeah and its cheaper to slow cook meat in a big toaster oven. (okay, so my oven is messed up and the toaster over was my only option!) That's it for the food advice. Its been a long slow process for me with many ups and downs too. It gets easier the longer you do it. And I know you can do it! If I ever get to goal weight, I'll still come in here so I'm not planning on getting done and never being around.

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

                  1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
                  2nd mini goal: 140!
                  3rd mini goal:135!
                  4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.
