  • Hello all!

    Thought that I would introduce myself to ya'll. This is my second round with Atkins, I lost 110 2 years ago, I now have gained most of that back and am more ready then ever for round 2. Had one quick question though, with the testing strips which shade of purple do you need to be on or is there a difference?

    welcome welcome welcome.. I quit using the keto stix ..as far as shade depends who you ask..u will get a million different answers. my dr said that the darker the shade the more u are burning but then some peeps say it dont matter.

        well hello- glad youare back to this WOE and as you know it works- so i hope you plan to jump in full force. as far as the sticks- most dont use them jsut do as you should and you will lose a close to the dark purple is best IMO but if its too dark it could mean you are dehydtated- so forget about he sticks and jsut stick to the paln, you will be hitting mini goals in no time

            From what I understand, ANY shade of pink/purple means that you're in ketosis. The shades could vary for a variety of reasons, one of them being how much water you've recently had. However, the darkest shades are best to avoid, because that means (if I remember correctly) you need to up your water intake....

                Thanks all for the warm reception, it has been easier starting this then I thought it would be :icondance if round 2 goes as well as the first round I weight will be falling off in no time, I have heard that round's 2 and after are alot harder? thoughts

                            Welcome back to Atkins and to the boards.

                            As for the strips, I don't think it really makes which shade of purple your in - as long as they do change. But I think the most important thing is that the scale moves in the right direction rather than the strips. The strips just give you a hint that your doing the right thing.

                            I know when I test early in the day my strips are lighter shade of purple but when I test later in the day they are darker.

                            You made the right choice to come back to this woe - it's the only thing I have ever found that works and makes sense. I think as "heavier" people we have to go through lots of ups and downs before we realize what is right for us. I too fell off the wagon since last November, but now I'm back on. Take care!!!!!
