  • BLAST!

I have been walking every day so far and every week I add 5 minutes onto my time. This morning I begin by stretching out then start my walk. I am about four minutes from being finished and I feel my left knee begin to hurt. I ignore it (frankly, it isn't the first time). At about the two and a half minute mark it all goes numb. I am worried now, but want to finish. Finally, as I approach 20 seconds, I feel sensation again, but it is something akin to what it must be like to be blasted in the knee with a shotgun. I could barely put pressure on it to finish my walk and it is very tender now.

Long story short, I blew my flippin knee out. I just hope that it gets better soon. It is funny but I feel guilty if I don't walk the full amount everyday.

I am so sorry you are hurt. I hope you recover quickly. I would stay off it until a Dr. can look at it. Knee's are not something to mess with.

Well after hitting the sack and getting a good day's sleep, my knee is still pretty tender but feeling 300% better than this morning. I am going to stay off of it for a night and see how it feels tomorrow.

I have had problems with my knee since '98. I stepped wrong and slipped off the corner of a sidewalk. I just remember a popping sound and a ton of pain, then looking down to find my whole leg from the knee down twisted inward. As it turns out, I tore the outside ligament in my knee and stretched the middle one. After some surgery and a lot of rehab, though, I could move on it pretty well again.

I think I am going to make a visit and get a scan of it just to make sure I haven't aggravated it.

From a guy who has had his knee out three different times, your story literally made me wince. OUCH! Take care of that knee, rest as much as you need. There is no sense in doing damage over a bit exercise guilt. You might also think about a knee brace just to keep the knee completely stabilized while walking.

OUCH!! THAT HURTS!! Sounds like it's "Arm Chair Aerobics" for you for a while. Let your knee heal and workout your arms and upper body instead to get rid of the guilt and to keep up your exercise.
