:wave Old Lady!! I"m 58 and I'm not old, LOL. And yes this works. It's working for me. I'm on my 3rd week and I've lost 4.8 pounds so far plus I'm having a slight problem with my HRT. My advice is give it a try, don't forget to exercise (if you are out of shape just walk every day) and drink lots of WATER. Good Luck and I'll be here if you need an "Old Fat Broad to talk to .

I'm not an old lady, but I am a total wuss...................would that count?

Does "Atkins" work? I was 60 years old, and weighted well over 400 lbs. when I started. Two years later, I've lost over 150 lbs., and greatly improved my health.

        Does "Atkins" work? .........................**** Yes!!!!!!

I agree with the others. I was 285 pounds and 49 years old. I have tried to lose weight so many times, I've lost count. The difference between this WOE (way of eating) and all the other diets I've tried are that on Atkins, you don't walk around hungry and miserable.

If you read the book and do it like it is supposed to be done (exercise, meals, supplements, and water)...then you have a burst of energy, weight loss and dropped inches.

I've lost 102 pounds in a year and a month. I'm down from size 22 clothing to size 14. I've never felt better. Best wishes to you. I know the feeling of desperation and saddness. But, thanks to Atkins, I now know the feeling of good health and control over my weight.

Lillie, I'm 55 years young and I'm not having any trouble losing, especially the inches. But you have to be serious and follow the rules. I decided I could modify the rules for awhile and that got me into trouble. Once I got serious, re-read the book, and followed the rules, I started losing. I'm dropping inches faster than pounds, but that's okay with me. It's how I look and feel that's important not what the scale says (even though I still get on it every morning).

Good luck to you and don't hestitate to contact me for support anytime.

                LLL,

Yes it works ... if you read some of the posts here, you'll see that it does. But more importantly, if you don't read DANDR, educate yourself about Atkins and try it, how will you ever know?

                Best wishes to you.

Yes this really does work!!! Whatever you put into is what you will get out of it.

I don't think age really matters - only your Carb intake! Just read the book and go for it and you will see great results.

It's the only thing that has ever worked for me!

                  Good Luck,

                  Pamela

Hello :wave Welcome to our CC family at ha
I am a bit younger than you and started at a similar weight, aiming for the same goal weight in June 2003.
If you do it 'by the book' it can't help but work :yes
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                          Hi :wave Welcome to CC,

Yes this does work but not everyone gets spectacular results. I loose very slowly, but I do loose. I'm 48, in menepause, diabetic, and a take a handful of pills daily. As long as I don't cheat, I loose slowly but surely.

I suggest you take your measurements and that you use weekly measurements instead of the scale to track your progress.

You know the saying, YOUR ONLY AS OLD AS YOU FEEL? Well, I'm 51, and I feel better than I did when I was 41, since starting Atkins Jan 26/05. The weight and inches are coming off as long as I follow DANDR, especially water and excercising. As far as I'm concerned, age is only a #,and shouldn't effect you losing weight!
