Happy Mothers Day. But here in the states our Mother's Day isn't until May, so maybe that's why the responses did come in. That's nice of your sons.

Re: CC ROLL CALL Mothers day!

Finally broke my 6 week+ scale battle and dropped a few pounds. As best I can tell through my non-scientific experiment, this was achieved by trimming back my carbs by just a few a day to drop back below 30 daily (started turning the sticks again, which had stopped or nearly stopped) and also trimming off a few hundred calories a day. Since I started last summer, I have lost a fair amount of weight, so technically I should probably need less food to support my smaller size. Instead, my calories had actually creeped UP over this time by as many as 400 or 500 a day on many days. I think the combination of calorie and carb creep is what slowed my weight loss to imperceptable. I will continue to experiment and see if I can determine this for sure, but I eliminated the possibilities so far that it was mostly/purely due to not drinking enough water, not taking my supplements, and not exercising regularly like I was before - because I intentionally did not ramp those back up to previous levels over the last several weeks while I was experimenting to find the key. I do intend to add those back, though, and know they will all help speed things along - just wanna see a few more pounds drop first to make sure to the degree possible that wasn't the primary cause/causes of a complete scale stop. Next I gotta test adding peanuts back in though... don't think now it will be a problem, but I need to see. Also gonna test a few other things, add some calories back and see what happens, etc. As long as I stay on a losing streak, I might test any number of things if I have the patience so I won't feel the need to concern myself with cutting them back/out in the future.

Also changed my goal weight UPwards, because after several body fat percent calculations using weight and measurements, apparently I am not as fat as I thought. WHO KNEW!?! By all calculations, my previous guesstimated goal weight of 192 or so was pretty dang low because it would supposedly put me at about 6% body fat. I will recalculate again as I continue losing. I may end up adjusting it downwards again as I get closer, but I would be pretty happy I think with any body fat percent that was considered in the normal range regardless of the scale number.

NOTE: Not really wanting to reduce my overall quantity of food, the things I trimmed back to reduce a few calories daily were those heavily calorie dense/fatty foods that don't add much quantity... mayo, butter, nuts, heavy cream, etc. Didn't eliminate them, just reduced their quantity - mostly in mayo which I had come to slather wildly on many things. My fat percentages of daily calories was easily into the 70 something percent range - maybe higher if you consider I was measuring those items by eyeballing (and thus likely undercounting), so monitoring the amounts on these things just dropped that back a little into maybe the upper 60s percent of daily calories. Still plenty of fat daily, while carving off some excess calories too that I had added on over time, unintentionally.

Wondering if I wasn't burning hardly any body fat because I was constantly taking in so much extra dietary fat beyond what was necessary (beyond the upper 60s percentile) that I was just burning that fat instead of my own... of course I do not advocate fat restriction in general, not helpful to me ever in the past, but maybe if I am eating a fairly high number of calories AND really high fat amounts, that is what happens. Aiming for fat percents in the mid to upper 60s now. Seems to be working so far.
