My New Job OT

Well as most know I started a new job at a local school district in the Child Nutrition Department. I have been a Manager for ten years and really am not ready to go back into that role yet... So as a Newbie I get sent all over the district and even though I requested one side of the river well they don't care. Anyway the first day I showed up the Manager was off ill so I dealt with a Sub Manager who I had more experience than she did. She ended up sending me into the kitchen and allowing the workers to boss me around and that they did. Finally I explained that I had done the job before in another district and did not need to be spoon fed. The second day I was sent back to that school and met the Manager who was behind on her paper work and I ended up doing two peoples job. I continued to work there until Friday when I was sent to a school in an area that is quite wealthy. But as soon as I walked into the kitchen I realized I had walked into a nest of mean people. I am talking the nasty people with the attitudes that this is their area and I was not welcomed. I did my day there and am praying that I do not get sent back. Every day I get a phone call in trhe morning telling me where I need to be. Hopefully soon I will get sent to a permanant position with nice people who want me there. In the mean time I am taking names and remembering who to screw with if I ever become a Manager in this district.

OK so did you have to go back to the "mean" school?

Today I was sent to the school where there was a student raped and a gang fight was supposed to happen about a month ago yep they have had several bomb threats. Well I had been warned that this was the worst school...I will be honest it was not a bad kitchen well okay so one kid did pass a fake $10.00 to the cashier I was serving for. Stuff happens...No school is perfect and yes there were a couple of women who did not seem friendly but so what I will be getting a pay check. I don't care as long as they are not flat out rude to me or the kids. So tommorow who knows where I will be but I kind of like the adventure of being a floater in an odd way. I think of it as a chance to meet new friends or enemies that is up to them. One thing I promise I will never forget how a person made me feel...

I am sorry your new job is causing you such stress. I understand how you feel playing the role of manager and then working on the other side of the line. I also was in management positions for several years, and now I am just working part time =low woman on totem pole. But, I like it better. It fits with my lifestyle at the present time and I don't have job related stress. I think my kids, grandkids, league and other non-work related areas cause me enough stress.

I'll be thinking about you this week as you go to work and praying that you can meet and overcome all the challenges that you face with these people. Hopefully instead of bumping heads with you, they'll soon realize what a great asset you are for them.

I think I might like moving around like that too! You are a people person . It gives you a chance to strut your stuff. Besides, you get to leave the mean people as soon as your day is over.
My Mom used to say.."8 hours, is 8 hours!" LOL.... Guess she meant, It doesn't matter what your doing, as long as you put in your time, and bring home a paycheck! Enjoy!

Debby.....It won't take those snooty people long to realize what a treasure you are and treat you better. And the unfriendly ones...how could they not warm up to a scintillating personality like yours??? You will win them all over! I have faith in your ability to charm them all (even if you have to be a snake charmer in some cases..LOL). Soon they will stop calling you the "new girl" and start calling you by your proper name...."Boss". I have no doubt you will soon be their superior on the job as well as in personality. Hang in there.
