  • Getting Frustrated

I'm getting frustrated. I know weightloss isn't linear and I know its not constant, but I am frustrated. For the last 4 weeks I have been stuck at 231. I haven't really changed anything. Here is my typical day:

    Breakfast
2-3 eggs, 2-3 slices of bacon or a sausage patty

    Lunch
Salad (mixed greens) with some sort of meat (chicken, turkey), 1 gram ranch dressing

    Dinner
chicken, pork chop, steak, or burger, with a side of brocolli (1-2 cups), zucchini, cauliflower, spinach, or a small side salad. Sometimes I'll add a little ranch dressing for dipping or some cheese.

I drink at least 128 oz of water a day. However, I also drink diet soda. I know this is a no-no, but I have always done it and it hasn't affected my loss so far. I take a calcium supplement, essential oils, and chromium. Some days (not always), I'll snack on a few peanuts or cashews or a little meat and cheese. I never allow myself to eat more than 2 oz of cheese a day.

I go to curves 3-5 times per week and maybe take a walk once a week.

So, I'm frustrated. I'm not sure why I'm posting this, but I'm frustrated. I know a lot of you have gone through periods like this, but it is frustrating. I know these things happen. But it just stinks because I haven't changed anything.

Nikki-- :hug :hug how frustrating. Might just be a slight kick in the exercise area might give you a jump start off the stuck point. I was stuck for what felt like forever and eating all the same food. Then I upped my exercise and it's really slow but moves maybe a pound or only 1/2 pound a month. Good luck!

:hug been stalled myself several times one was 12 weeks and 6 days so I do know your frustration.
Since you go to curves ask them the next time you are in to check your measurements and see how much fat you have lost as you have been adding lean tissues to your mass.

The metal monster does not discriminate and measures total body mass effected by gravity. Make friends with your tapemeasure and watch the inches of fat melting off as morph your body you add that lean tissue mass too.

You can try shaking up your menu a little and have some carbs with your breakfast too. but just keep doing your Atkins and you will keep getting healthier and smaller even if it isn't showing on the sclaes.

            Thanks for the responses.

I knew somebody would mention more exercise. I just started more at Curves this week. Instead of doing the circuit 2 times I do 3 now. Or should I be mixing it up with other types of exercise? I really haven't found anything else I like enough to commit to though.

2Big...you have been an inspiration to me since I joined this board in 2003. I believe you were in that stall at that time. You are amazing. I don't think I would have made it that long. I wish I could find my measuring tape. Next week is my monthly weigh in, measure, and body fat measure at Curves, so we'll see then if the measuring tape is my new friend. I sure hope so!

I think this has been so hard because I went from losing 5 lbs in one week to all of a sudden nothing for 4 weeks. I suppose I shouldn't be greedy, huh?

On a brighter note. After I originally posted this, I was talking to a coworker and mid-conversation she kind of laughs and said "look how big your pants are on you!" That just made my day.

              good for her

Yep I was a struggling and fussing and trying different things with my Atkins back then the lowering of the carbs like dr Atkins said and all the stuff in chapter 15 even lowering my exercise in that gawd awful SLUG DIET for that misrible week. Finally Barbell fairy replaced whooshie and poof the scales moved again for a couple of months.

When you up your exercise as you read Brook posating about her scale woes each time you know that our bodies don'r understand we are doing it for fun and not to excape from danger so the muscle reactr to that new load as a threat to you and superhydrate and store more water and fule to save you again form whatever that danger was that made you make them do all theat extra work. Soon they will learn the new load is the normal load and you will get an over night whoosh.

I've been in a similar "stall" for 6-8 weeks now and I understand the frustration. But, I can tell I've been losing some inches and I really believe my body has been going through a phase of getting used to the weight training I've been doing for the past several months in addition to changing shape (I've lost that heavy look and am looking much more slimmer). I've still waiting for the scale to give me that much desired change of weight.

Your menu looks pretty much like mine, but I don't drink soda. I'd say just stick with it, do some measurements and see if you are losing inches.

It always helps to run into someone who hasn't seen you in a few too. LOL!!

I met a friend to go walking yesterday. Her jaw dropped.

Now I know the scale hasn't moved much in months and months, but I increased my exercise and just that dropped nearly 1/2 a clothing size (I can wear 16's but they're still a bit tight), so I know that part is working.

Hope you get great news at Curves at your measure appointment!

Wow Katlam! Remember you have lost 60 pounds. You must look absolutly amazing. I know stalls are frustrating, but just keep on keeping on, and remember all the weight you have kicked to the curb, on those especially frustrating days.
