  • Saying NO is becoming easier

Well, I've always been the type of person who never said NO to people when asked if I would help them. I never took time for myself, always doing and helping others. Not anymore. Oh, I still do more than my share, but I am more selective than I used to be. I DO say no now when and if I really don't want to do something.

For instance, I am learning for the first time to say no to my kids. They have drained me over the past 10 years. I've always listened to their problems and tried to help them solve them. Not anymore. Now, if they start complaining about their jobs, their spouse and boyfriend, I just say....If you are not happy, change things. I did.

They don't like that answer, but I have no time for negativity anymore. I try to live a positive life and be happy. The negative things they try to lay on me are not healthy. I wish I'd practiced this many years ago, I'd have saved myself a lot of grief. I no longer hang around people who bring me down.

My days are getting better and better because they are consumed with things that I enjoy. Even when my list is full of things to do, I do them with a smile because they are things I chose to do.

Dream, can you come over to my house, invade my body and lose about 80 pounds for me. (The correct answer is NO) j/k

I'm so glad this is getting easier for you. I know it is especially hard with your kids. Congrats on setting boundaries for those around you and for yourself.

            Becky,

I'm so proud of all your accomplishments. You really are setting a wonderful example for the rest of us. I'm still your typical 'Yes-Mom'
Maybe someday I will gain your confidence... Thanks for being such a shining example!

Becky....Sometimes with your kids it proves you love them more to say no instead of yes. I think you have probably become a better mom along with your weight loss. Way to go!
