  • Almonds question

So i been doing pretty good, following diet closely eating meats vegetables and water. Also exercising. Is there any reason not to eat almonds? I have been but im not sure if i should be now that i think about it.

What do you all eat for snacks?

The good doc said if you are doing Induction longer than the original 14 day that you can add 1 oz of seeds and nuts back into your diet. You have to be especially careful about portion control. They might also have mold growth and encourage yeast production. I would however keep them on a limited basis in my diet to prove I could do portion control.

As for other snacks, lately I eat a bunch of summer sausage, cheese crisps, or salads.

I really have a hard time with limiting nuts. Once I open the jar / can I can't control myself. Just be careful.... they're really caloricly dense. I have to avoid them, as one measured ounce generally turns into a full blown binge for me..... I just can't stop eating them.

I ate them last year when I was doing so well, but I had the same problem of turning them into a binge. If you take out your ounce and put the can away, it helps. Also, eating nuts increased stomach irritation for me, so I really have to limit them.

Here's a good trick to limit your portion size. As soon as you open a bag or jar of nuts, immediately measure portion sizes into separate snack-size ziploc bags. Then I put all the little bags into a big ziploc bag. That way, when I want some I just grab a little bag and munch away. It helps to prevent the grabbing-a-handful-from-the-bag-and-suddenly-the-bag-is-empty syndrome. It also helps when you need to grab or pack a snack when you're on the go...

Pepperoni sandwiches! Take a couple of pepperoni slices, spread a bit of cream cheese on one, sprinkle a little Cookies seasoning on and make a little snack sandwich. Sometimes I make four or five of these (the little pepperonis, not the big ones), pack them in a ziploc and have them with a salad for lunch. Or make them ahead of time and leave them in the fridge for snack attacks.
