• I cried today at the store

I left the house today for the first time since my daughter's accident. And just for fun I decided to go try some clothes on at Lane Bryant. (I usually buy all my clothes there). Anyhoo I pulled out a 20 and an 18, 20 being my original size, and I'm still wearing a few of my old jeans that fit reasonably well, so I thought maybe I'm still that size.

I was really nervous before I tried on the pants, the entire time in my head I kept saying, Please God, Please God over and over again. I put on the 20's and I was swimming in them. Then I tried on the 18s and they were kinda lose. I figured I was in an in between size but I grabbed a 16 just to see how they looked and THEY FIT!!! I put all my original choices back and got new stuff, in bright colors, just to try on (of course, wink-wink ). I saw this really cute khaki skirt but they only had it in a 14 so I decided, what the heck I'll try it on. IT FIT. I couldn't believe it.

So now I am a size 16 in pants, and a size 14 in skirts. I sat on the little bench in the dressing room and cried. I was so overcome. It seemed so impossible for the longest time that I would ever get back into that size, and now here i am. I feel like I've climbed a mountain and achieved a life goal. Even though my goal is to get to 140, my true goal was to get to a size that I could shop anywhere, it was so important to me, now that I am there, I am just so full of emotions, that happy tears was the only way I could get it all out. I'm sure those of you who have achieved an important goal in your weightloss understand what I'm talking about.

I'm going back with my mom tomorrow, and getting some of the stuff I put on hold. I haven't worn trendy clothes in a while and need her second opinion, I absolutly fell in love with these purple pants, (I know your thinking purple?!? but they are really cute on, normally I would stay away from colors that draw attention to my bottom half), if I end up getting them I will post pictures for you guys to see.

Well, I have about 10 shades of purple-- shirts or sweaters. So, purple is cool. Size 14 and 16 and even smaller in the works. Good for you. I am sure you were so happy. :yes

It's truly amazing isn't it! At my heaviest weight I had completely given up on fashion. Couldn't care less. If I kinda liked it and it fit...I bought it. I remember a few months before I started this WOL I went to Sears and bought some shirts. When I showed them to my mom she said "Honey, you're too young to be wearing these." That was one of those moments. Really made me take a look at myself and I didn't really care for what I saw. Now even though I've been doing this for over a year every time I buy clothes...everytime I'm in that dressing room with horrid flouresent lights...I am grinning like there is no tomorrow. I still haven't quite got rid of the fat goggles but I think back to when shopping for clothes would put me into depressed funk and I'm grateful now that I truly enjoy it. You are so getting there Yoly...pretty soon you'll breeze right by Lane Bryant because even though they have great clothes...nothing will be small enough! Especially in a size 14...you are shrinking like a shrinky dink! :joy

I'm sooo happy for you!!!! I remember the day when a 14 @ Lane Bryant fit me. Now it's all I wear. The next step is to buy up a bunch of 14s and wait it out until you never have to shop @ Lane Bryant again. I love that place, but I can't wait for the day that I can shop @ New York & Co. without feeling weird or out of place.

woo hoo for you. I so remember my shocking shopping trip last yr when i discovered I was a size 12.

A little advice though you can go to a normal person store and shop in their 14s and save you some money if you want to as Walmart type stores have the clothes cheaper then Lane Bryants does.

How is your little girl doing?

Girlie girl - if you're a 16/14 get out of that infernal Lane Bryant store and get thee into the regular Misses Department someplace nice! LB clothes (IMHO) are overpriced and underquality and they take advantage of us larger folk (which you clearly are not amongst any longer!).

Congratulations! Doesn't it feel just GREAT?
