My DH and I are starting Atkins all over again in the morning. The last month or so has been a tough one for us and for the first time since January 5, 2004, Atkins became a struggle.
Personally, I've been dealing with an illness and as with many meds and adjustments, it has been extraordinarily frustrating for me. That hasn't changed for me.
And while not an excuse, I've found it a low priority these days to maintain the Atkins lifestyle. Two weeks ago, we found my Mom on the floor of her home. She had been there for an unknown amount of time, but by estimates for 2-3 days and was admitted through emergency with multiple medical problems. She has been independent and active (thus the reason I didn't worry until the 3rd day I hadn't been able to contact her). There is likely to be a lengthy recovery and she will require a skilled care facility for rehabilitation and continued treatment.
Needless to say, I've been devastated and spending all my time at the hospital.
Tomorrow, DH is going to to the shopping at the grocery store and we'll start back with Atkins in a simplified form without the elaborate kinds of preparations I've always made. I've got to get my energy back to deal with all I'm dealing with right now. Carbs are not my friend!
So, while I likely will not be posting often, before too much damage is done, DH and I are back on what worked for us so well for more than a year. And I have read posts from the hospital computer and from home and continue to be in awe of all of you and your progress and perseverance.
Love you all.
Jo
