Just browsing through different topics and had to enter this one. I was on the Atkins and fell off the wagon before. :no I am giving it another try and stick to it. I have a question though......is it okay to eat ONE of the Atkins Indulge Chocolate Mint Cookies when I feel that need for chocolate around TOM? I know from reading different forums, they say not to especially during Induction, but isn't it better then eating a bag of M&M's or something? One cookie wont hurt, will it??

I can almost predict what everyone is going to say... If you don't do it by the book... you aren't going to suceed. Allowing yourself that one little thing every now and then turns into lots of little things a lot of the time. Do it by the book and you will thank yourself in the end. Congrats on coming back!Start 11/02/04 27yr old 5'7 SW308/CW293/GW175

I have to agree with EMTchick. There was a post awhile back about rewarding yourself with food... and if you use TOM as an excuse to reward... it will just continue going. TOM of already poses its own problems with emotions and gaining weight.. will that one cookie really make you feel better?Start Date: 01/18/2005

I have to agree with everyone who has posted in reply. I have felt the need to splurge or treat myself with junk food for doing so well, but if you really think about it, isn't that just being counter-productive? As it stands, I have resisted that urge since I began and have been cheat-free since 3/23/05.
I won't pretend to know what it is like to suffer through that hormonal rollercoaster that is the female reproductive cycle. I will let you know, however, what causes me personally to stay true to this way of life.
I stay clean and exercise regularly because this has to be more than a diet for me. When I think about having a nice bowl of ice cream or chocolate cake, a part of me tries to think it as reward for coming so far. The simple truth of the matter is this: This is just me trying to justify something polar-opposite to weight loss.
Do you really need that cookie? Isn't slipping into a slimmer pant size a greater prize? Or maybe feeling stronger and healthier everyday? How about extending your life expectency or finally having the feeling that you could conquer ANYTHING because you have finally accomplished your weight loss goals?
In the end, don't give yourself even the smallest opportunity for failure (which is what "treat eating" is), stay clean instead and find the rewards waiting ahead in your healthier lifestyle.

LOL I know what you are going through, last night I was out of.... ummm..... "some girly stuff" so I had to go pick up some at the store, and I stood for a good 5 minutes looking at the cookies before I was able to talk myself out of them.
On a side note, the "girly stuff" was on the same aisle as automotive stuff! Everytime I tried to go down it, there was 2-3 guys standing there! LOL I'm still a scared little girl so I wouldn't dare go down the aisle as long as they were there. When I finally got it to myself and went down it, here came another guy! LOL I just said "screw it!" and got what I needed. When I got home and told DH what happened, he said "they were probably more embarrassed than you were". LOL
I hate TOM, he's also caused me to "retain" 4 lbs extra! GRRRRRR :anger :anger :anger :anger

The only good thing about TOM, is, I always have a major weight drop the week after! Had TOM last week and this week I'm down 4 lbs. I make sure I stay on plan the whole time, and try to increase my water consumption to fill me up, therefore it takes away my sweet craving during that time. It really works!!! :yes

During TOM, 2Big recommends "blobs" for extreme chocolate cravings. Blend together some cream cheese, splenda and cocoa powder, then drop them onto waxed paper and freeze them. When those extreme cravings hit, slowly suck on one. It really helps.
I mix together cream cheese, cocoa powder and davinci's syrup...it's got less carbs and you can create different flavors with the chocolate..... :yes
