  • Question about supplements.

I don't know much about supplements.. so I was wondering if someone can enlighten me. I know we are supposed to take some because due to the things we cut out.. we deprive ourselves of certain nutrients. Others though, are to help our weight loss ... right? Or wrong? What do you all take? I am a slow metabolism person, so someone recommended L-Carnitine.....but even with that recommendation I confused about not only what to take..but in what doses. Supplement gurus..help me out please!!

    Ally,
I know 2big is a wealth of information she will be along, but we also have a supplements forum where all the people who know these things hang out.

Ally you can PM 2Big for suggestions. I suspect that she'll tell you that you need to have your physical and with it the blood test will tell you what areas need supplements.

There is also another forum, vitanutrients? I think that you can post your question in and get an answer. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...forum.php?f=63

You can also check out the FAQ section http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ic.php?t=68114 and this link is all about which supplements to take.

      Hope that helps.

Well, I am a newbie and had the same question as you. I found that alot of people said to take a multi vitamin without iron. Some added extra for some reason or another.......good question though cause I would like to know for sure also! :icondance

Its hard to tell, because everybody's needs are so differant, so I agree with the physical and blood tests, but at the same time, most doctors don't support vitamen therapies and hollistic remedies. You might want to find a hollistic doctor in your area. I take a daily multi, lots of super B complex, fiber, and OoO because I have candida. I did take a lot more before, but it got kind of expensive. The B's in particular help me, since without sugar, I tend to be quite grumpy and have MAJOR cravings. Since starting B's I've been on an even keel, and always happy. They really do help. I'm not so nervous and jittery, and therefor more patient with my DH and DS.

All I take is a multivitamin, One-A-Day CarbSmart. I'm not a big supplement guy.

I don't know if this is right or wrong, but I enter everything into Fitday and use the reports it provides - one of them shows a list of nutrients I get each day/week/month - whichever I select. It highlights in red all the nutrients that I'm under ie that I go below my daily required minimum, and I had quite a few! So I handled that by taking a multivitamin. I don't know if it's psychological, but I do feel much better taking it now
