  • Induction Flu ALREADY ??

I am new to the forum, but not Atkins. This is my second time around within a 3 year period. I quit the first time due to feeling so sick, which I now know what the Induction Flu.
Today is my first day on Induction, and it's just a little past 2pm, and I feel sick already! I am drinking lots of water and just hanging in there. My question is, is it normal to have this flu thing so quickly? Does that mean I might pass it sooner and quicker then before? Before it hit me around the 4th day and lasted 3 days and that's when I quit.
Sorry for so many questions, just need some advice. Thanks!

It's possible! I could also be that you're justr coming down with a bug, too. The "induction flu" is really just your body converting over to a fat burning machine from a glucose burning one. Had you already started cutting back on your carbs before you "started"? That could also make it happen sooner.

Hope you feel better, if it is induction flu you'll feel fabulous soon. If it's not then I hope you get better soon.

Side note: Since I've been on this WOE I almost never get sick and if I do it's very short lived. I caught my kids cold yesterday and today I'm almost over it. Only felt crappy overnight. This WOL does wonders for your immune system.

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?

No, I didn't cut out my carbs before I started. I just haven't eaten that much for the past few weeks due to stress, working double shifts day after day and also keeping up with my household and kids and hubby. I drank a Pepsi yesterday, but wasn't able to finish the whole can like I use to. Maybe my body is telling me something.. ensive probably to stop eating and drinking so much carbs!
I just hope this passes soon, cause this is why I quit last time. I WONT quit this time though, I am determined! :icondance

Youo said you didn't eat much the past few weeks, so that means your glycogen stores are probably depleted (which is good on Atkins) so you're converting to a lypolitic energy machine already. That is good.

Also lots and lots and lots and lots of water help tremendously with the induction flu.

Did I mention that lots of water will help?

Look forward to seeing your, "Wow did I feel good when I woke up today!" post in the next couple of days.

Did you cut caffine cold turkey this time? That will also have yucky effects. Also, if you're not used to drinking as much water as you are now, that also might make you queasy in the first few days. Just hang in there, and soon you'll be feeling like a million bucks!

Yep, I quit caffine cold turkey! Maybe that's why I am feeling this way and also drinking alot of water and my body isn't use to it.
I also bought some Ketostix, and was just testing for the heck of it, and it is dark pink. From being on Atkins last time, I never saw pink until about the third day, so maybe my body is in a "hurry" sort of speak. :icondance Maybe my body wants to get rid of bad carbs quickly.

Caffeine withdrawal can be brutal. I thought I was not much of a coffee drinker, but boy did I go through caffeine withdrawal. I had a head ache for a week!!! But when it was over boy did I feel great!!! Hang in there it is worth it to detox your body.

Ok...I dont' want to be a worry wort, but I think dark pink ketosis on day one isn't necessesarily a good thing. Are you eating your veggies? Just me, but it seems awfully early to be showing dark, especially if you're drinking a lot of water. I don't know...my hubby says I worry about things, so, I'm probably wrong.

Well, it wasn't the darkest color, the results were 15, which is the third color on the chart. I ate lots of veggies, and I did put in what I ate all day on FitDay, and was 1 carb under 20, so I think I did well.
I think maybe because before I started this Induction, I had cut out some of my carb intake.....not as many sodas, sugar, pasta, bread, etc.....

This is the third day, and I must say that I feel GREAT! I was a little upset to my tummy off and on yesterday, but no biggie! I got on the scales this morning, just out of curiousity, and wont do it again until the end of my 14th day, but I lost a total of 6 pounds in two days! :icondance I know its just water, but was glad considering TOM came to me yesterday.
The funny thing is, Im not the one who is feeling all the sickness, feeling lazy and tired.......lol.....my hubby is! Maybe it's just in his mind. But it's still funny! :icondance But everything is going really well. I haven't craved any sweets, and the only sweet I have is one packet of Splenda in the morning with my one cup of hot tea. I dont even miss my old eating habits, which is so weird considering I have ate bad carbs all my life. I am so proud of myself! :icondance :hug
