I need to know-- how can I set a goal??

I've been heavy all my life, and now topping 288 and still feel like it's climbing. I have to wait until the after the 1st to start because of money issues to buy what I need to start induction, so thought I would try to set the goals I need now.

Can't go by size, don't know what size I would look good in. When I met my ex, I weighed 155, but was still fat then. How should I go about setting them?? I know I need to lose 100+ lbs-- should that be my main goal?

As I see it, you have a few ways to go about this.

You can search the web for height/weight charts.

    Or...

You can just say "til I look and feel great"

In the meantime, set mini goal ... 250 then 200, etc.

I agree, set mini-goals. As you can see in my siggy my "goal" is 210(195?) but realistically it's 225 (I don't tell anyone that). At 225 I will reevaluate and then decide what I want to do.

      Good luck!

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?

I say, shoot for body fat %....that way..no matter how much you weigh, you will know whether or not how close you are.

2big on here is a prime example.....if you go by weight, she would be obese at a 180+...but she's only 14% bodyfat...Thats UNDERWEIGHT!! for a woman lol

Then would this be too much for me to start with:

          First 25lbs gone = Haircut
          50 lbs gone = Manicure
          75 lbs gone = Pedicure

this way I can reward myself for doing what I need to do-- or am I way off base here??

kitty, each one of us is so different as far as body type, make up goes. For instance, myself, I was around 150 before having children (when I was 19) and I was a size 11/12 at that weight. I have a lot of muscle on my body, and apparently I have 150 pounds of muscle on my body at the moment, which means my goal weight will have to be up around 170 or 180, but I'm aiming for 145/150 and when I get down below 200 lbs I will reevaluate. Just don't worry too much about the end end goal weight, just make yourself mini goals as you suggested in your last post, and you will be fine. Aim to get to a certain figure but don't stress out over an exact figure just yet, until you get below 200 or 180, then reevaluate. Just my two cents worth !

              HI
I think some of the best advice you got is setting those mini goals, that has been the main reason that i have had sucsess this time, i mean i started at 262 and want to get to 125, thats a long ways away, but i tried to break it into lots and lots of small goals, nad that has really helped, also try joining one of the challenges int he challenge section, theres lots of different ones and you jsut choose you 'mini goal' fopr that challnege its fun and helps out alot, an example for you...(as i would do it..)
your 288, so my 1st goal would be getting under 280, then 275, 250, then drop it down every 10-20 lbs or so, then before you know it you will be in 'wonderland' and on your way to your final goal...
good luck you can do this!

as far as waiting till the 1st, is there anyway you can start now? i do 100% know what you mean about money issues, but sald is cheap and so are some types of meat, maybe you can start sooner rather then later, if you start tomorrow, by the 1st you would have already been on it over 1 full week.... :wave
              ORIGINALLY STARTED:
              9/1/04
AT 272 AND BY 7/1/05 WAS AT
              181
