Hi sadie! Yes, I did see the ML 50% less salt bacon at the grocery store and that it has no sugar in the list. Weird that it lists higher carbs than the others though. I wonder what accounts for that.

Yes, I'm sure about the cream cheese. It's very different, even with the same packaging. I've never bought the low fat stuff, only the full fat ones. Now, it's been a few years since I bought Canadian Philly. So maybe it's changed now. I used to live in the States, so got very used to their Philli and noticed a huge difference when I moved back here.

I need to vent. It sucks trying to eat out in Canada! I can't find one SINGLE sit down restaurant that I can eat at. There's no nutritional info anywhere. And who has time to do research trips everytime you need to eat out, especially when it's in a different city?

Really? I eat out all the time. Sashimi and Miso soup at sushi restaurants, salads at fast food places like Quiznos, steaks and salads at Moxies or other generic places....I live in Vancouver too....

I do agree that downtown Van has some options. (Hehe, I'd live on sashimi if I could! Unfortunately, DH hates all Asian food, and it's also not exactly cheap). And certainly we can just go to a restaurant and order what looks most likely to be low carb. But there are no nutritional lists out there anywhere. And from the looks of it, many, if not most restaurants add sweetiners and starches to most of their foods (including the meat), raising the carb levels significantly. So it's all a big guessing game. I'm fairly confident the Keg is safe, but who can afford to eat there whenever you go out? lol

When I'm just out with DH I will occasionally get up the nerve to drive the wait staff nuts with questions. It still sucks, but I'll do it once in a while. But when I'm out with friends I'm just not comfortable making that much of a specticle of myself.

So this past weekend I ended up living on: a bunless fast food burger (which was gross! lol), some pepperoni (thankfully with no sugar in it), cheese, and some packed meat slices, pickes, and cream cheese. Oh, and an atkins bar because they travel well. Not exactly a well balanced day. But we were out of town, so had no other way to do this. Plus we didn't have the car to carry a big cooler around in.
