  • Ramadaan and Atkins

Assalamu alykum to all Muslim and non-muslim Atkin-ners. I just started with induction and b4 u know it, we will begin with our Holy month of Ramadaan. Is there any advise or tips to get thru the day during the Holy month of Ramadaan??? What can u eat b4 sunrise that will carry u thru till sunset??? I know from all my previous years, that a bowl of cerial/porridge (lots of carbs) used to do the job. :help

Yes, Ramadan will be on you before you know it. BUT believe it our not if you eat a large omelette with cheese, sweet peppers etc. you will be surprised how long it can keep you. I can tell you longer than that bowl of porridge.

I am not sure where you are but try some vegetable and fish dish or some cheese sticks, slices of tomato and some halal sausages cooked with lots of butter. I think that the main problem with Atkins and Ramadan will be the water issue. As you are required to drink more water on Atkins you may find that the lack of it during the day will make you get more cramps in the legs. THis you just have to deal with by drinking more than usual after breaking your fast.

Let me know how it is going when the time comes around!!

        Well Ramadan starts tomorrow.

Good luck to those of you who will be fasting. I know that you can do it. As a matter of fact the protein will probably hold you for longer!! I am not muslim so I will not be fasting but I do have many muslim friends. I have decided to do a clean induction for the month of Ramadan.

I guess you also have to plan a fabulous Atkins Friendly Eid Celebration.
