I live in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium(I'm American though).
Are there a lot of low carb products available in NL? My Dutch spelling sucks so I am not even going to bother. :help

Both my grandparents emigrated to America back in the 1920 or 30s. Actually was fluent in Dutch after 3 years of college Dutch - did quite a bit of history reading old Dutch newspapers (printed just after settlement) and letters, but am so out of practice today.Kent - 35-M-6'4"

COOL!! Finally some replies...hehe
Ria, hoe lang woon je nu in Ghana?
ik wil nog 10 kilo afvallen...maar ik weet het nog niet zeker...Bedankt en groetjes!
Maggie, I'm also from America...I married a Dutch guy. I can speak Dutch pretty fluent, but writing is really hard.
There are a couple of stores here that sell low carb stuff...our grocery store just started carrying some bars and stuff...but I barely ever get them. Try ketolife.nl you can order pretty much everything from there.
Bowolf, you can practice your Dutch here...it's easy to forget if you don't use it...I'm sure you understand pretty much everything written in Dutch though...right?

Anyone here who prefers English?
Yes, there are several atkins- and lowcarbproducts in the stores here, also lowcarb bread at some bakeries.
More about me in the "introduce yourself" section...
Voor wie het interesseert hier wat Nederlandse en Belgische atkinslinks.

Hallo
I am a Canadian living here now in the Netherlands with my soon to be husband. I can read Dutch much better right now then I can write. Practice makes perfect. I am happy to see that there are a few of us out there that are struggling with the many french fry stands that are everywhere, I swear my knees go weak when I walk by one of them. I look forwards to talking with all those here. I am now converting many recipes I have into low carb and for products that I can find here in the Netherlands....perhaps we can swap recipes or ideas. Talk with everyone soon.

Re: The Netherlands
Hi, all of the Americans/Canadians/Australians living in Holland. I am from California and speak Dutch enough to get around but not to carry on a fluent conversation, with all of the dialects. I'm lost at a birthday party.
There is a wonderful book called Kijk op joules en calorieen by Nicoline Duinker-Joustra , I
SBN Number 9060203933 and costs 5,10 Euros. I live with this next to my computer, and can put all of my daily foods, etc into Fitday.com. C1000 and some other groceries are now carrying Koolhydraten arme bread(less carbohydrates). The one I use has only 5 carbos. (from C1000). There are few other foods that are low carbo, but some are coming out. I lost 27 pounds by just following the Atkins plan and exercise( working hard in garden). I lived at the garden( a Dutch treat), so picked what I ate, except for the meat, of course. Didn't use all of the crutches found in America, and it was best. Once I started using these products, brought back from visits to US., I started gaining.
Good luck, with the low carb plan and learning Dutch. Don't use crutches with either situation; stick with simple foods, and stick with using Dutch as much as possible. When you revert back to English most of the time, you'll stay stuck. Be brave!
