  • Germany or Bust

My family is moving to Stutgart in a few weeks from sunny Florida. I am scared to death of hating the cold and becoming sedentary, depressed and fat...TER. I have two children, 9yrs and 22months. I will be a stay at home mom. My husband is not in the millitary, but will be working on base.

I attend a gym now that is for women only with day care. I fear not finding someone to care for my son while I do something for myself. I started out at 310 or so and am down to 259. My goal is 167(the smallest I have ever been as an adult, well since high school actually). I think the achievement of this goal is the dam that prevents most of my life's desired accomplishments. How can one be successful at other things when she can't even control what goes into her own mouth! I digress....

Look forward to PMs from you guys.

    God bless,
    Simone :help

Hi Simone, I just came back from Berlin so I understand the "cold" factor. What I did discover was how pleasant it was to walk because everything was so near by. I don't know about Stutgart but many European cities have what you need within walking distance so you should be able to walk for exercise. The parks are also safe, beautiful places to get some exercise.

      Hi Simone!

I used to live in Stuttgart (I was also born there). It's a great city!

Yes, it does get very cold here. I moved back here about 11yrs ago after living in GA for 18 years. BIG difference! However, as long as you keep yourself motivated, you will be able to get things done.

There are also women's gyms here in Germany. Most gyms also offer free day care during the time that you are training, but you will have to check on that with the gym.

I take it you are a military wife? If so, you can always get information at the community center on your base as to babysitters or hourly care at your local day care. And, of course, there are free gyms on base for military families.
