What are some of your Christmas traditions?

These don't have to be food related at all. Do you have more of a Christmas Eve gathering or a Christmas Day gathering? Do you celebrate Boxing Day? When do you exchange gifts, is January 5/6 important for gift giving? What are some of your family favourites for food, carols etc.? What kind of Chirstmas tree decorations? etc.etc.etc......

Christmas Eve is every bit as special at our house as Christmas Day. Although the tree has been up for a few weeks now, we spend Christmas Eve day with last minute decorations (hanging stockings and such), and then we have our Christmas dinner in the evening. We follow that with a ride to see Christmas lights -- sometimes some place special, like the Zoo or a local park that is lit up, or sometimes just around our neighborhood. Then it's home to watch a movie - usually a comedy and Christmas oriented. It used to be we'd have cocoa and donuts, but we'll find a good substitute this year -- tea and ??.

On Christmas morning, DH is the biggest kid of all. He's usually up between 4-5am, banging on doors and wanting the rest of us to get up! LOL (Please understand, my kids are adults now! They do NOT want to get up at 4am to open presents!) He and I open our stockings in bed, then downstairs to open presents.

Christmas day is buffet foods - leftovers from the night before and several eat-when-you-feel-like-it foods.

It's a wonderful, wonderful time of year My only disappointment this year is that my DS won't be home... <sniff>... but we will call him and talk to him on Christmas Eve.

      Junkanoo baby!!! :icondance :icondance :icondance

      Fun time all around there!

Other than that its just the same old same old for us. I know alot of the locals don't really do the gift thing on Christmas, but Boxing Day is a big day here as well.

Things are a bit different here due to it being summer for Christmas. We usually have either a BBQ for Christmas lunch, and then a huge christmas dinner with all the trimmings, or the other way around.

Recently though - we've been having a bbq for Christmas breakfast, then a huge traditional lunch followed by a ham and salad type thing for christmas dinner.

As long as theres lots of meat and veges and salad - I'm in
