  • Happy Thursday!

Good morning, y'all! How's it going today?

I slept like a baby AGAIN (thank you, Atkins! I missed this!) and woke up, peed, and RAN to the computer to check this forum! LOL. SO glad to see some posters! I feel like we have a great little club.

Today I have to go to Starbucks to meet a friend. Usually I get my wonderful Grande Raspberry Mocha, but today I'll stick to tea (sob). It's gonna be rough, but not deciding not to have a mocha, just knowing I COULD!

Today I am going to work out for at least 1/2 hour, per my commitment.

I've already had 24 oz of water so far - for the first time, I woke up THIRSTY! (That's a good sign, right?, given that I drank 9 16 oz bottles yesterday, plus two cups of decaf green tea)
    Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

    Hello hello!

Starbucks can be evil!! Besides the prices ($5.00 in Canada for a fun coffee, really now), the drinks are like liquid sugar. I've been doing a lot of 'mind over matter' work lately when I see something I once would have jumped off a building to eat. For example, we got coupons for KFC yesterday in the mail and I used to love KFC. In fact, a friend of mine once said to me "you dip the skin in the gravy??!! That's gross!!" So when I saw the flyer, I looked at the chicken and fries and had a tiny moment of "oh, I miss you" but then immediately made myself think "that is the kiss of death. One piece and you'd feel horrible, probably cheat more, and then end up even fatter, more tired, and dang unhappy. Do you want that??" And I responded with a resounding "NO", put the flyer in the garbage, and even felt like the chicken, fries, gravy, etc were gross.

In the book "She's Come Undone" the heroine loses weight by imagining green mold all over her food. While I'm not suggesting this, there is a huge psychological component to losing weight. So get your tea and tell yourself "yum! I'm being good to myself" instead of "urg, I wish I was having the yummy coffee." The coffee is going to undermine your success!

Oh Starbucks (groan) :speechle: Love, love, LOVE their hazelnut coffee!!! I miss my hazelnut!!!! Actually, on weekends, I put the hazenut flavored sugar-free DaVinci's in my coffee. Why not during the week? Cuz I forget to.. LOL :speechle:

Anyway, Thursdays are busy for me in the afternoons. I understand the board is going down sometime today through Friday. I'll be camping this weekend so I won't be back until Monday. But I'll be here for a little while longer. :hug
