I haven't read any of those books. I just started reading again as well. Right now I'm reading The Nosy Neighbor by Fern Michaels (I think).

The next one I will read is Harry Potter. I'll be swiping it from my kids each time they put it down. Any one a Harry Potter fan?

Yeah, I tend to stick with the James Patterson, Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks type books, I read Fern Michaels also, sunset! Haven't read that one yet, though.

I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan! I actually reserved TWO books this time so I could have my own copy and let the kids fight over the other! I cannot WAIT until July 16!

Re: No topic, just an addict checking in

Hey everyone! I am usually bad at saying things about me, but I can give up some info!

My name is Kathi, I am a 28 year ol newlywed! I married my best friend and the most wonderful man in the world in November 2004. I started Atkins in June 2003 and he proposed in November 2003. We were together for 4 years at that point, and I REALLY wanted a fall wedding, so we set the date for a year later. I lost 93 pounds before the wedding. I looked 'OK' in my eyes, but not thin enough to be happy with my pictures and my self. BUT, waiting another year for weight issues was ridiculous. So the wedding, honeymoon and different lifestyle led me off plan. I was a FREAK about Atkins too, but I let it go. So now I am up almost 2 sizes in 8 months - I will get back to where I was and keep going.

I have 2 black labrador retrievers that are my babies!!! I also have an all white, blue eyed, furry persian/tabby that is absolutely gorgeous and FAT at 30 pounds LOL!!! People love him though, he is just so cool LOL.

I enjoy shopping, reading, riding bikes, entertaining friends and family and going new places - I really love the ocean! I am an underwriter and risk manager, so my job is stressful - I have learned not to eat but to drink water to handle the stress LOL.

It is great to be here, I love this board already! Thanks for the support and kindness!

Re: No topic, just an addict checking in

                    Hi there,

I have been reading a lot on these boards for a while, but have finally decided to just join in!
I am 42, have been with the same man for 21 years (happily ) (there was no internet back then...we met at college )
We have 2 kids (20 and 13), a dog and a cat, I am Canadian, and live in the province of BC.
I started Atkins in April of 2004 and had success with it. I don't weigh myself, but count inches and clothing sizes instead. At Christmas time I decided that I wanted to eat whatever I wanted, and that I was "just taking a break". Well, you know how that turned out! Here I am, with a bunch of weight on, starting over. Oh well...I'm happy about starting again because I love this way of eating. I feel great both physically and mentally and really enjoy eating good food!
I learned last time that water intake is crucial to this lifestyle, so will be doing lots of that...
I did notice that some of you like to read....I'm an avid reader too. If you like historical fiction you gotta check out the series of books by Diana Gabaldon. They're amazing and addictive...the first book is called "Outlander". If you do a search of the author on the net, you'll see all kinds of fan sites, and some of them have excerpts from the various books. Also, there's a trilogy about Napoleon Bonaparte's wife, Josephine, which are awesome reads too. First one is "The Many Lives and Secret Sorrows of Josephine B".

Anyways, I wish you all success on your Atkins journey....this forum has a great ambiance!
                    MorningGlory.

Thanks for the recommendation! I've been lurking around the D. Garibaldi shelves at Barnes and NOble but wasn't sure....since it's beach time, I'll go buy a few and get into them! Of course, I'll have to take a hiatus when the new Harry Potter comes out next week....OMG, I am so excited!

Just make sure you read them in order...Outlander is first. And I agree with you about Harry Potter....I'm re-reading Goblet of Fire because I can't remember much of it. I sure hope the next movie is good. The last one I felt like they rushed through, and I like the long drawn out route better! Ha ha.

Hello Everyone! I thought I'd jump in on the fun and say a little about me.

My name is Krystle. I live in Ohio and I'm 20 years old. Hopefully I'm not too young to join? I've posted in places before and I was told there were "20's chats" to go to instead. Anways, my weight issues are more recent than life-long. In high school I was about 150, never any more than 160. But I'm tall so people thought I was 120-130lbs. (I Wish!!!) I was almost 16, when I got into my first long-term relationship. I stayed with that guy for about 1 1\2 years. As all 'young-love's' are, the breakup was VERY hard on me. We were practically joined at the hip for the whole time! After that relationship ended I started to gain weight slowly, about 3 months later, I ran into the ex's friend Chris. We started talking and going out on dates, then my weight went back down (Im shy and I couldnt eat around him). We made it 'official' on January 26th of 2003 and have been together ever since. I graduated and then moved out of my parents place into my first apartment with Chris. In March of this year we moved again into a brand new duplex, which I LOVE b\c we are outdoors people and LOVE animals! We have a yard and garage and space to move-about! The last place we were at was like a hotel atmosphere. No garage no yard, just an apartment complex. At the old apartment we had 4 cats. We decided to cut down moving into the new place and kept 2 - 1 orange tabby fat cat! and my lil' tiny(her name, haha) persian. Last week we adopted a beagle\terrier mix puppy.

Meanwhile I work full-time for the RTA in my county. I'm a 'transportation corrdinator', We just say 'scheduler'. I'm going to school part-time in the evenings. And sometimes volunteer at the Animal shelter.

Im currently up to 260lbs, (too comfy with Chris obviously). Which has taken a toll on my health, the doc's say im fine but I can feel the difference. Im looking to get back down to 160lbs. I was told this diet would be good for me since I have alot to lose.
Sorry this is long, I love to chat with new friends!

Well, Speedy, I'm not sorry "this was so long"!!!! It's good to get to know each other, and we need to use a lot of words to introduce ourselves, I think!

Welcome aboard! This WOE DOES work. I swear by it. You will be amazed. IF you aren't already!

I know what you mean about being too comfortable with the boyfriend. When I met my dh, I was already overweight for the first time in my life (other than right after pregnancies) and he adored me and my body, so I stopped caring and gained MORE! He STILL adores me and my body, but I reached the point where I felt so disgusting I had to do something.

Keep checking in to this board. Pm any of us if you need extra support, 'cause we give it! And you will find yourself supporting others, which is, I think, the key to success. The more advice I give to others, the more I take it myself!!!!
