Hi everyone ~
I am new to the message boards and thought i would introduce myself here. I posted the other day over at Century Club and thought that this board would be a big help as well. I'll probably be spending the bulk of my time between the two boards, if no one minds! It is so wonderful to have this sort of community support.
Anyway, i am 30 years old and have been struggling with my weight for several years now. I was always really thin until my father passed away unexpectantly my senior year in college. After that the pounds just added on and added on. I was lost in my own little world of denial and compulsive carbing.
Finally, in the summer of 2003 i went on Atkins and lost 25 pounds!!! Then i got pregnant... (seems to happen that way a lot, doesn't it?) It was a complete surprise to me, but a wonderful surprise.
Instead of being smart about my diet i took the opportunity to eat every carb i could get my pregnant hands on. "The BABY wants Taco Bell... the BABY wants ice cream!" And then i gained 85 pounds! I ended up being very fortunate to deliver a healthy 10.2 pound baby girl, who we have named Luna. However, because of her size, she did not move down the birth canal, and i had to have a C-Section.
So now Luna is a year old! And i am starting, again, my committment to myself and my weight loss. This week i have eliminated 9 pounds! I really need to stick to this. I am hoping that the message boards will help. As i said over at the Century Club, my husband weighs about 135 and my best friend is a size 4. They are very supportive, however, it is difficult to connect with them about this challenge. I am hoping to make some good friends here who will understand my position.
Thanks for being here and letting me share!
