  • Restart after 2 years

    Hello,

My first atkins success was in the summer of 2003. I lost over 40 lbs in a little over 2 months. To make a long story short... a house fire, the death of 3 grandparents, stress, stress, stress... I managed to gain it all back. I have restarted again, yesterday, and lost the initial water. Before I weighed daily, this time I am going to put the scales in the closet. I have "re"started several times in the past two years and find that the weight does not come off as quickly. I get discouraged and fall off the wagon. My DH says that it is just because my body has to readjust each time. I am curious if anyone else has found this to be true? Does it "kick in", and you begin to loose again? The first time it seemed like a miracle. I think maybe I am looking for that again. I probably just need to be patient. I guess I answered my own question, huh? Good luck to everyone!!

    Thanks,
    Sherry

      Re: Restart after 2 years

I'm in sort of the same situation as you, having lost forty and gained it back. Tried and tried to restart, couldn't do it until 2 weeks ago, when I came back to the Board.

This time, I decided NOT to weigh for at least a month. Instead, I am taking my measurements every 2 weeks. Now, just recently I posted that I didn't feel much difference in size, though of course I'm happier and have much more energy.

So imagine my suprise when I measured this morning (Day 15) and have lost over 16 inches!

You might try this. It really reduces/eliminates the temptation to give up when you see the scale not moving, it reduces the reliance on the scale and focusses instead on the really important thing, which is SIZE.

I'm with ya all the way! Keep coming in here and posting with us. Record your daily exercise in the "exercise check-in" threads that are started each day.

If you need a forum to do the measurements, get a free account at MyBodyComp.com. It tells you where to measure and keeps track of it for you, then gives you charts about changes. I love it!

          Hello,

Glad you've taken the stand once again. The "second" time round i have to admit the weight doesnt come off as easily as before but it still comes off. I agree with all the previous advice given above and i highly suggest you do some form of exercise i found that that really made a difference since the weight wasnt dropping as much as before.
Drink your water and measure out your veggies well.Good luck. You can do this!!!

              Welcome Sherry!

You have received great advice and the hard truth from the others. It does come off slower. But you have to stick with it. If you have an "indulgence" we will call it, just get right back on track. Don't let the guilt set in, don't say that you've already screwed up so might as well eat high carb for the rest of the day and start over tomorrow. This will lead to days and even weeks where you will not make progress. Trust me, I know.

Keep coming back to chat with us!!!!
