  • Happy Tuesday

    Good morning all!

I was sure that I would wake up sore this morning, after upping my exercise yesterday, but nope. Feeling fine. I'm sitting here eating breakfast before taking my daughter to driving school and then going to work out.

We ended up going to some friends' house for bbq yesterday before going to the fireworks. They actually marinated the chicken in no carb dressing for me, and I had THE most tender, juicy, flavorful boneless chicken breast I have ever eaten. That, plus salad, was wonderful. If I could only bbq like that....lol

I hope you all have a great day!!!!!

That was really great of your friends to marinate in something you could have, Finelly!

Well, doing okay today. I had boiled egg for breakfast (I really need to come up with something different). Plan to have salad with grilled chicken for lunch.

For exercise, I have walked 1 mile of the WATP 2 mile tape (ds wasn't feeling well and I had to stop after the 1 mile to take care of him). I will walk tonight, either outside or the full 2-mile tape.

Hope everyone else has a great Tuesday!

      Finelly-

I love your energy! Would you mind sharing your exercise routines? If it isn't too much trouble, would you mind being my buddy? I need an exercise and diet buddy. None of my friends ever stick to it nor do they exercise. If I had someone to hold me accountible I would do great. You seem on the tright track, if you wouldn't mind we can PM each other or even do it in here if noone else minds...

        Re: Happy Tuesday

I will be happy to be your buddy! pm me or I'll pm you!

I am now, as of yesterday, doing the following at the gym: 45 min of cardio (usually broken up into 15 and 20 and 10 min of different things because my attention span is about as long as a flea!), then upper or lower body weights on the machines (alternating days). I didn't start out that way, though!
We are in calif, so I also have committed to a 30 to 40 min walk on the beach 3 times a week. I walk so much longer when there's wind in my face and a lovely view! lol

I think I started out at 10 min on the stationary bike and 5 minutes on the elliptical trainer. And the weights I added after a week. I had to work up to it. But I worked up fast, because this is the fourth week I'm exercisig daily.

I have discovered a couple of things that are absolute givens for me: first, I have to GO somewhere to work out. I have on a couple of occasions said "oh, I'll just do it at home". HAH! NOT. Second, I have to do it early in the day. If I put it off, I am increasingly tempted to keep postponing it until it is midnight and here I am, not having exercised. But if I go early,I feel so darned virtuous during the day! PLUS, every time I'm tempted to eat something bad, I think "no, I worked out today. I'm not going to blow THAT!"

As for my energy, that is the Atkins "high". I now wake up really early for someone who doesn't have to work in the summer, and bounce out of bed. The only time I lose energy is if I go 3 hours without eating. Then I become a bitchy, draggy person but as soon as I eat something, I'm back to normal.

        Hope this helps!!!!

It helps a lot! My main focus with weights is I need to get rid of back fat, right above where my bra trap should be. I really hate the back fat, it is getting worse too!

I don't care for going to the gym too much. I feel as though everyone is staring at me. I am on of those who prefer to workout at home - and I really do!

Kathi, maybe you could try the Walk Away the Pounds 2 or 3 mile tape. It is supposed to be a high calorie burning workout. You can definitely feel the burn. The main aspect is walking (you do some front and back kicks, wide steps, etc), but you do work out your arms and other parts of the legs when they have you move a different way. It also uses weights. I also enjoy Taebo for working out at home.

Great idea, thank you! I use Taebo at home. If it is cool enough, I jog around my neighborhood. Sometimes I pack it up and go to the gym - only to leave feeling like people are staring and talking. It is a self esteem issue that I am hoping will go away once I feel better about myself.

Hello!! Its almost 3 in the afternoon here so I am lagging behind you all in posting today. Hope you are all having a good day!

I highly reccomend the WATP tapes. They go by fast as long as after the 100th time you dont mind hearing the same thing over and over again. I purchased another set of Leslie Sansones walks so that breaks up the monotony for me.

Not walking today though. I managed to pull my lower back yesterday and am sore as heck. The heating pad is my friend today.

I understand the self esteem issue and was worried about people looking at me too when I went to Curves. I got past that pretty quick. Its all women and we are all there for the same reason. Everyone is pretty friendly. 30 minutes goes by fast when you break it up into 30 second increments at each station.

Hey Finelly! What did they use to marinate???? LOL I just got some carb well/carb sense or something like that bbq sauce and am going to soak some ribs in it this week in my crock pot.

                    Re: Happy Tuesday

                    What a fun thread!

I have heard wonderful things about Curves ~ that it is a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. I might check it out sometime soon. For now i am too embarrassed and i also feel like people are staring. So i have been working out in the privacy of my own home with the only audience of my dogs and my daughter. They don't seem to laugh much at all. Well, maybe my dog does a little.

I have been doing "The Firm" series and i LOVE it! It combines strength training with cardio in intervals and i find it to be very effective and enjoyable. And the beautiful women in the video are not annoying to me at all, which is a bonus.

Also, having an exercise/food buddy helps. When the board was down, Finelly and Sarah were my buds, and they both really helped me through. Fin is a wealth of information and great ideas and Sarah is so wonderful and supportive - i enjoyed getting to know them both. Sarah and i are at about the same stats and is my new exercise/food buddy and let me just say, i am so thankful for her! She is a wonderful new email bud and she rocks!

This board rocks. You all rock! I am so psyched that i found you all... Thanks!

It really is great having a personal buddy! Dragonflymoon is awesome! I highly recommend it to all. It is really very motivating to share your story and hear someone else's story with regard to our lives and weight loss battles.
