  • Not getting enough calories

I have been trying to get my ratios in order while keeping my carb count down and I am not getting enough calories....I am eating often, only not much, I just don't feel hungry. But my ratios look good...lol...

maybe I am eating too many carb laden legals? like brocolli? I am not sure what my question is...

I need to know where/how I can learn my BMR and what good it's gonna do me to know it....
    ok thats it.

    Ya'll have a good day!

    Re: Not getting enough calories

I'm having the same type of questions today. You may want to check out the thread I started over in the extended induction forum. I just started using Fitday to track my foods and I think my calories are low. If you use fitday it will tell you your BMR, or just do an internet search for BMR calculator.

If you look at my other thread, you'll see there are differing opinions. Some people think you need to eat your BMR as a minimum. Others think not. I'm confused! And I feel like I eat until I'm satisfied, so why force myself to eat more. Argh.

Eat until you are satisfied, not full. As we get smaller remember, are bodies don't need as many calories. sometimes people forget this on Atkins, because we lose alot of weight quickly and don't adapt.

Today I ate less than my 62yr old mother and I was full! What also helps is eating more frequently, not only does it help your metabolisim a little, but keeps you well fed and calories right about normal.

Thats one of the reasons why Dr. Atkins didn't press on counting calories, because it causes such a pain in the butt. I personally think that the whole calorie thing really doesn't come into play as much in induction and OWL as much as Pre- and maintainence.

Yep, worry about cals once you get to Pre-Maint or when you're really close to goal ie 10-15lbs coz that's when they matter more, not as much if you've got heaps to lose or you're in Induction/Ext Induction.
As you go up the higher rungs of OWL or increase your carb levels, you need to watch your % more

          Disco -

I hope you're only eating 1 cup of broccoli....if so, that shouldn't be doing it.

Why don't you post your menu so we can see what you ate today? Include percentages and total calories, and also state what your bmr is.

You can get your BMR at http://www.countcarbs.com/tools/basal_metabolism.htmI wouldn't worry too much about the calories just yet. As you get closer to goal you may need to watch more. I only have about 14 net carbs per day, 1500 calories. I know it isn't enough but I am full!
