Re: Elfish?
Thanks, everybody. I guess I'm so used to not really having a way to vent...
I messed up on July 4th (yay to those who didn't!). Went to a movie with DH and had to eat something to take medicine so I could sit through it. So I had popcorn. Then hotdogs and chips and other unmentionable foods for dinner at the in-laws. Anyway, that was the beginning of my downward spiral.
I tend to go to the grocery store after the kids are asleep (thank God for 24-hr Walmart) and in my stressed-out times I can't resist the urge to get a treat. It's been out of control this week, every time I leave the house I have to get something bad. But the funny thing is, nothing sounds good to me, and nothing tastes very good either. I feel worse when I'm eating bad stuff...
I just need to break out of this cycle... I'm just tired and stressed and I need a break from my kids! Their grandmothers going to take them for me in a couple of hours (whew).
You guys are wonderful, I'm so lucky I found this place and all my new friends. Thanks for listening.
Erica

Re: Elfish?
The worst part of having a cheating episode is trying to get back on track. I think this is compounded by stress and exhaustion from having the kids around (the dear things NEVER really understand that they have more energy than we do, do they?!) and guilt and the physical feelings associated with a cheat......
I have a couple of ideas:
1. Is it possible that your dh or one of the grandmothers would do a grocery shopping for you so that you can at least get only good stuff in the house?
2. Even if you are eating badly, can you fit in a long walk or an exercise tape? (I know, I know, who the HECK wants to exercise when they're feeling bloated and disgusting...)
3. Can you keep the STAC-ked page up and check it once every hour or so? I find that that helps a lot.....
Hang in there, babe. You will not succeed if you stop trying!Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

Re: Elfish?
I should clarify about the kids... Love 'em love 'em love 'em but my 2 1/2 year old, TY, is being very needy this week (he is currently drawing on my arm with a pen and I don't have the energy to tell him I'd rather not wear blue squiggles today). My 6 month old, Luke, is teething and has an ear infection. To add insult to injury, he had his 6 months shots yesterday (breathe). He's a little cranky

Re: Elfish?
Don't worry, I don't think any of us think you don't like your kids!
Having raised four of the little tykes, I can completely relate. One needs a BREAK periodically! If only to be able to breathe for a bit, relax the "alert in case they draw on the walls instead of my arm" syndrome, and be a PERSON, not just a mommy!Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

Re: Elfish?
Thanks Fin. I think my husband ( my mother-in-law too, probably) would rather lose an appendage than go to the grocery store for me. I'm gonna to go today and stock back up on the things I need and then barricade myself in the house for the next 3 days. That usually seems to work. Once I'm in ketosis I can stick to it much better.
Still can't seem to find time to fit in exercise. I'm going to start walking early before everyone gets up.
I always keep the STAC-ked page up. I'd be an utter disater right now if it wasn't for reading the posts constantly.
Big hugs, Finelly. Thank you.

Re: Elfish?
Erica I hope you feel better!!!!
I can relate to kid-related stress issues. I know you love your kids, just as I love my DS, I was just telling DH that I'm going to start banging my head against the wall if I don't get a break. LOL. DS has entered the temper tantrum phase, added to being sick. I feel ya girl! Hang in there!!!!!!!

Re: Elfish?
I feel for ya'. One thing I'm learning is not to feel guilty when I get tired or frustrated with the kids. We're not superhuman and yes even though I'm mad or upset, I still love them.
Have you thought about putting your DS in preschool yet? I know it's early but it was the best thing I ever did for mine. A local church here has started a preschool/Mom's Morning Out program and Ty started the MMO prog when he was 20mos. He didn't care for it at first cause he was used to being with me all the time but he's really blossomed. He's had speech problems cause of his ears but he's begun talking SOO much more... sometimes not such a good thing

Re: Elfish?
Popping in for an afternoon moral support hug Erica... Do your children take naps? Are you getting a small bit of time to yourself?

I remember that temper tantrum stage..............
Mine were barely 13 months apart and for a time they were both in that stage at the same time. I remember popping my dd in a snow bank during one of hers and just walking away. She delights in telling everyone about it. Hard to believe she remembers something that happened when she was 2 but sometimes forgets to do the dishes when asked. Go figure.
