  • How to beat a temptation

    Hi everybody!

Anybody have some good ideas on how they get thru their most tempting moments?

    1. Eat before you go anywhere.

    2. When tempted, take a swig of water and eat something high fat IMMEDIATELY.

    3. Bring something high fat and high protein to any event. People love my devilled eggs (I don't know why, they seem like everyone else's version, but...). And my quiche.

Can you be specific about the context of these temptations? Are they in your own home? When out in public? At someone else's house?

Re: How to beat a temptation

I try to remember the big picture. Yesterday, hershey kisses at work were screaming my name so loud that I thought I was going to have to plug my ears and walk around the office going "La, La, La, I can't hear you." But then I reminded myself that I have a lot of weight that I need to lose, that I feel great when doing this diet, and that I need to get myself healthy ASAP.

Hope that helps - you CAN beat those temptations!!!!!

I keep "centered" LOL!!! I had that arguement the other night with myself and I won! not the sugar devil! I just keep thinking of how strong i am, and i put myself in the catagory of STUBBORN and keep going straight ahead. And I agree 100% with Sarah, I feel GREAT!! And I'm starting to get compliments! Like wow, you've lost weight! or you look very nice, and I smile say Thank you and then say Thank you to ME! The best compliment i have recieved yet was last night at work. My friend is on the SB diet, so we're in this together. Of course I know i picked the better of the two! She said Your double chin is GONE! WOW now that had to be the bestest ever compliment! I was born with this damn double chin and its "hung" around for 50 years! So i can't tell you how many times i put my hand up there to make sure it had shrunk up!! so to pay the compliment back, she's walking down the hallway and i yell at her, hey Becky.... your butt is smaller!! She turned 5 shades of red and looked around to see who was around to hear (no one!) and then she tried to look at her butt and said THANKS DEB!! we walked away from each other smiling!!
sorry to go on and on. I talk to much! I know that!!
          have a great day!!!!
          happy losing to us all!!

I drink water and remind myself that it won't taste no where near as good as thin feels!

Re: How to beat a temptation

I chant a lot when tempted.....................

I want my jeans back on my butt!!!!!!!!! And comfortably!!!!!!!!

The devil shouting at me from my shoulder eventually gives up when I take sides with the low carb angel on the other shoulder.

It is still hard sometimes though and the best thing is if possible to get away from what it causing the temptation............ Even better for me is to come here ASAP.

If the temptation gets too strong, I take whatever the tempting item is, put it in the garbage and put dish soap all over it! Works like a charm.... LOL.

Ewwww. That is just gross. That's okay, temptation gone. Had lunch, a nice cheeseburger and salad w/chicken. Yummmmy. Not hungry anymore.

Mojo, sure hope these ideas have helped you.

Re: How to beat a temptation

for me, i drink a lot of water, adn try to remember how it will feel to finally fit back into my clothes again. They're just sitting there gathering dust and they're so sad. Plus, i'm spending money on clothes that DO fit me and it's a waste of money because I will lose these silly pounds again!

I also buy myself atkins friendly treats to keep me going. Last night i had prosciutto with piave cheese, with grilled asparagus and a few green cerignola olives. From Wholefoods. Fancy dinner, way more money than I'd usually spend, but I was on day 2.5 and I really didn't want to mess up. So, yummy dinner to keep me satisfied.

If i get cravings I try to leave the house, go walk around or exercise, or just find someone to talk to about the weather until it passes. Last night I went to the grocery store and amused myself finding decadent things to eat for dinner.

I'm in monster craving land right now - started tuesday afternoon, so it's been 4 days now. I'm fine in the mornings - it's the afternoons that kill me!

Knick - are you eating a high fat snack in the afternoons? If not, feel free to do so - it's a miracle cure for those afternoon munchies....

Funny you should ask that, I just had a big whoppin hamburger patty. ;-)

What would you recommend for those days I'm not sitting at home or don't feel like cooking, other than cheese? I eat too much cheese I think.
