  • substitute for milk

My 14 year old daughter wants to do low carb with her father and me. We are a bit reluctant, because she is so young. She is 5'8" tall, and weighs 167lbs.

She does like the low carb special K. but how to sub for the milk? I tried the carb countdown when it came out and I did not like it.

We are trying to just have her eat what we eat, cut out junk foods, and exercise. Take vitamins.

Since she is within her weight range (or very close, cannot remember exact #s), maybe she could just use soy milk. Or even regular milk, since she will be lowering the carbs at other meals? Just a thought.

Yeah, I thought of that. She wants to lose weight because she feelslike she is one of the biggest on her school dance team. She does need to cut out the junk food. I may try the carb countdown just to see how she likes it. If she lowers her carbs, but not necessarily below 20, won't she still lose?

I personally think that she will still lose. If she's eating a lot of carbs and cuts that out, she's bound to lose. She may end up liking the carb countdown. I've never tried it. What didn't you like about it? I imagine it being a little chalky, don't know why.

Best wishes to your family on this journey!!!

Something about it reminded me of milk gone bad, perhaps I got a bad carton? We loved the chocolate though. I have not bought it this go round yet. I loved mixing it with heavy cream and drinking it. It was so yummy............ Maybe I drank too much last time, had too much cream.....
