  • Day 4: oh my poor head

    Egads, it has arrived: the evil atkins flu.

    I have the WORST headache! Today's food:

    string cheese before playing tennis
    can of tuna fish mixed with mixed veggies from a can (about 6 carbs worth) with mayo, mustard, red wine vinegar for lunch
    Hamburger patty for snack
    prosciutto, cheese, asparagus, ham, and some little pickles for dinner.

    What am I missing?

    according to fitday:

    1059 calories, 50% fat, 44% protein, and 6% carbs. 21-5g of carbs.

    You're missing fat. You need about 15% more fat. And you also need 800 mg of ibuprofin. Right away!!!!!

        Oh, and one more whine... my pants are tighter!!! what is up with that? Day four i should be losing already, not fluffing up like a sponge.

        Could it be because I went and played tennis today and am now sore beyond belief so my body is retaining water?

          Fat: cream, sour cream, cream cheese, regular cheese, hot dogs, eggs, oils, mayo, dressing, pork rinds, .....

          You might be retaining water right now because you aren't eating enough fat to really stay in ketosis. That'll make your body hang on to EVERYTHING!

            Hi Knicknack
            Are you drinking plenty of water? If I dont drink enough I notice the difference. Also you should be sure to have a good breakfast to kick your fat buring metabolism into gear first thing in the morning. The string cheese before tennis was more of a snack? Dinner sould have some veggies with it as well, a salad perhaps with some high fat dressing would help bring those fat #'s up too. Ditto on that ibuprofen until the flu passes.

              your calories are really low too. Up the fat, you'll up your calories (and feel better I'm betting)

                In addition to what Finelly listed for fat, maybe you could try adding some butter to your veggies? That would help up your fat percentage.

                  So here's the sad tale: I ate 3 little sticks of celery with like 3-4 tablespoons of blue cheese dressing to up my fat last night. ;-) Put me at like 1300 calories, too! I took ibuprofen and drank two GIANT glasses of water before I went out, and my headache did go away!

                  I suspect it might have been a combo of not enough fat and dehydration, given that I didn't pee at all after my 40 oz of water! That's probably why my pants were tight too. We'll see how today goes. I'm going to buy a 1.5 liter bottle of water and go lay out in the sun for a while.
