  • Allow me to introduce myself....

    Hi~
This is my I dont know how many try at doing Atkins. I am determined this time to make it work. I have never gotten past the second day because of the icky way I feel I am starting tonight so that I feel the ickiest on my days off and then I can baby myself at home instead of feeling like that at work. I never actually get sick, I just feel really tired and queasy.
I need to lose at least 15 lbs by Oct and I want to feel good again!!
I look forward to getting to know everyone.

    Hi Corinna!

Once you get past that yucky stage you will feel great! But to prepare for the dreaded induction flu,

    1. Have ibuprofen on hand and take as soon as you feel lousy.

    2. Drink as much water as you can stand. It will help flush out your system from all those bad carbs you have been eating.

    3. Take a good multi vitamin without iron.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing!

Hey, Luvs2!!!! You are approaching this right by starting right before a day or two off. Induction flu sucks but keep reminding yourself that you are going thru a detox - just like if you were withdrawing from heroin.

Terry's right about the ibuprofin and water. If you can, take a short walk once or twice a day. Take a hot bath. Pamper yourself. And if you feel like sleeping, sleep.

We promise, promise, promise that when it's over (12-36 hours), you will feel FANTASTIC!

Hi Corinna! It just occurred to me while reading your post that I probably am also suffering from induction flu....felt kind of icky and dizzy all day.
I agree with any kind of self-love you can give yourself. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Welcome Luvs2lose! STAY with us, we promise you will feel like a brand new person once the induction flu passes.

I can even say, and this a lot for me to say, that I feel so good on Atkins that losing weight isn't priority anymore. It was all I was about, of course, but after feeling thinner inside, happier, no more mood swings from the sugar and carbs, it is much more rewarding to me.

Hang tough, you will love this WOE!!!

Re: Allow me to introduce myself....

Thanks everyone for all your encouragement I have almost made it through day one. I have a slight headache, but for the most part I feel ok. I went to the gym this morning as well. I promised myself that no matter how icky I feel that I will not allow myself to use that as an excuse to stop exercising. I still get kind of panicky feeling when I stop and think about all the stuff I cannot eat...at least for now. I know eventually I can re-introduce some of the foods, but not all. I have to remember that some of that stuff is what got me here to begin with. So Im sucking down my water and getting ready to fix dinner, I am not the least bit hungry but I know I have to eat every few hrs to keep my body on the right track. My stomach is making all kinds of rolling, grumbling noises, but I dont feel hungry. OK, Enough rambling....I am sure I will be here to post again soon, when I feel the carb cravings moving in. Have a great night!
