  • Well, this is too weird to be true - isn't it?

Ok, about a week ago, I caved in and weighed. Then started weighing every day. <sigh> As you know, things are going SLOW.

So here's the weird thing. Yesterday and today, 1/2 pound down each day. I hadn't been doing ANYTHING differently....or so I thought....

until my daughter just pointed out that I haven't eaten MEAT in three days!!!

(Just fyi, last time around, I barely ate ANY meat. Was mostly dairy, eggs and veggies. Maybe meat 2 times a week, if that....and weight came off fast)

Now, when I eat meat, it's just grilled chicken with some salt and rosemary. We're not talking any special sauces or anything that could be causing a stall......

Anyone have any thoughts? Coincidence? I'm allergic to meat?

LOL I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Have you been using fitday. It would tell you what is going on I would think. Maybe those two days, you were eating 1500 cal or had 55% fat or etc, etc.

not enough fat maybe? Chicken and Tuna always make my fat percentage plummet. I also don't think that getting fat from butter and mayo is as effective (at least for me). I lose the most when my fat comes from the meat that I eat, for some reason. So, I tend to eat chicken and tuna once a day and something fatty the other meals. (Bacon, hamburger, lamb, etc... QUICHE!)

So, I eat a lot of hamburgers. ;-P

No, my percentages were about the same as before I stopped eating the meat. So were the calories.

I'm serious, it's the ONLY difference! I'm just wondering if MEAT STALLS ME!!!!!! <shrug>

Where is most of your fat coming from though?

For me if I eat low fat meat and a lot of mayo and dressing and cheese, it doesn't work as well as if I just eat a high fat meat.

          No idea why.

Everyone is different though, guess the only way to find out is to experiment.

Without eating any meat for the last 3 days I'm sure your calories have dropped quite a bit. I know if I dropped the meat from my menu my calories would fall through the floor.

Meat/protein isn't going to stall you - unless, like anything else, you're eating too much of it. You might have a sensitivity to certain types of meat too. <shrug> Experimentation would definitely be worth it to see!

            Congrats on the mini-whoosh!

I tend to eat dark meat chicken with a lot of skin......and I always have my fats up around70%, no matter what. Never below 68%.

Well at least your skin is soft!

                LOL

I agree though that everyone is different with how foods affect them. Like Knicknack, I think I do better with the fattier meats and less mayo and butter as well. At least that is what I found last time, seeing as how I am not weighing myself this time yet.

Good to see some loss though huh!

Nope, calories remain the same. I'm very careful about that....

I don't eat very much meat either, which is why I find this way of life slightly difficult, but I just remember I will be able to eat different stuff again in the future! BUT, I agree on the fattier meats help you lose faster... However, I eat more lean meats with other fats a whole lot more than fatty meats... They kinda make me feel sick to my stomach! I think it is just the idea of all that grease!

I am so glad to see there are others on Atkins who were not born carnivores lol. Truth is I could very easily give up meat altogether but have to eat it on this program. I don't eat pork so bacon and sausage are definitely out but I subsitute with Turkey products although they do not have the same fat content.

                        Leah, thank God for you!!!!

We keep kosher, so of course no pork, etc. And kosher meat is not cheap, so I limit it. I splurged when I started this time around and got a lot of chicken, but at this point, I'm going to cut back again.

I get plenty, PLENTY of protein without the meat, and again, I'm 1/2 pound down this morning, so.......!!!!!!
