  • AHHH..retaining water

Well, today I'm on a massive LOW SODIUM day. The past few days I've apparently been eating way too much salt and as of yesterday was up FOUR pounds on the scale..LOLOLOL! Normally I would be upset about the weight gain BUT I have a SERIOUSLY bloated tummy, face, and fingers and chapped lips. I drank 160 oz of water yesterday and barely peed the whole day. Started today with lots of water and have only had about 200 mg of sodium so far... no cheese today. I'm hoping that I flush my system out because I feel horrible... it really sucks to be drinking so much water and not getting rid of it. Planning on having asparagus, celery and caffeine today (all natural diuretics) to help things along. I feel like a balloon that NEEDS to be popped! LOL

Oh, you poor thing! Waterlogged! Well, you're doing the right thing. Try some horseradish, as well, as I hear that works wonders!

i have always wondered about water pills? is that the right term? do they really help you lose weight. i have never tried them, but have been thinking about buying some? i don't usually put any kind of faith into pills, but if they aren't bad for you then maybe it would be okay.

oh and sorry you are retaining!!! my god, i hate feeling and being bloated.

Megenta, the main ingredient in water pills is caffeine, so, yes they will work to get rid of water but not any real weight. BELEIVE me i've tried!

I have tried the over-the-counter water pills. They didn't work for me. In fact, they had the opposite effect. I did try a prescription water pill someone gave me one time and I didn't stop peeing for 3 days! I retain water SO bad but the doctors won't give me any water pills.. hmm..

Just keep and try not to add any additional salt to your meals and it will go away.

The prescription water pills work very well and doctors don't like prescribing them because they can throw off your electrolytes.

Yes, I know that to be true! My Mother has been on prescription water pills for.... well..... forever! One time she ended up in the hospital because her potassium was depleted. She had to eat a bunch of bananas for a few days to recover. It was really scary!

Ssgs - I have found that eating a lot of fiber and having a bit of lemon in my water will get rid of the bloaties and get you flowing, in both ways LOL. Good luck!

Kathi... can't get the enough fiber to do it... I'm up to 134 oz of water so far today and have only had 665 mg of sodium... still no chesse *sigh* I miss my cheese. Peeing a lot more today and my wedding ring is no longer constricting the blood flow to my finger.LOL
Had a nice spinich salad fwith lunch and asparagus and celery for dinner. Overall I'm feeling a bit better but we'll see what the scale says tomorrow....LOL... I better have gotten rid of some of this by wednesday for my drive, because I can't be chugging water the whole drive or I'm going to have to stop every five minutes to pee... and THAT isn't going to happen..... maybe I'll go buy some Depends! LOL

For what its worth, when I was pregnant and had toxemia my dr said to sleep on my left side. Seems the heart pumps fluid out better that way. It helped me then. After he put me to complete bed rest I stayed there and lost a ton of fluid in just a few days.

Other than that cant offer up any advise that you arent already doing. HTHelped

Ugh, I"m retaining water too. It's annoying isn't it??? This happened to me last week too.

I have asparagus for dinner. ;-)

Nothing you can really do but wait, unfortunately. *pout*

LOL, taking a long drive??? I hope it is for something fun!!! Have you tried taking Psylium Husks? I take 3/day and they work good - I try to eat high fiber foods to help it along, but I too can't get enough in. Keep chugging, you are beating the bloat!

                            Re: AHHH..retaining water

I'm actually doing great today.... ended yesterday having had 200 oz of water!!! WOOHOO... but by the end of the day I was peeing every 5 minutes (literally) Got on the scale today and I lost the three pounds of water I was holding onto so I'm happy to be back where I was three days ago. Still drinking mass quantities of water (It's just under 100 degrees here today) and staying away from sodium and cheese for another few days.
Kathi... my drive is going to be about 6 hours to go see my grandmother (neither of my daughters have ever met her) and then we're going to go to Busch Gardens in Tampa...so yeah, the drive will totally be worth it!

p.s. Thanks to everyone who had advice on relieving the bloat monster.....
