  • Day 3 of Induction...

and going strong! I even peeked at the scale this morning and I couldn't believe it, I'm already down 5 pounds!!!! A couple questions though, I had an Atkins shake as a snack last night and a Atkins berry bar (the one with the oats and stuff for breakfast) are these allowed? They say induction on the pack but don't want to sabatoge myself.

    Re: Day 3 of Induction...

So many people have reported on ADBB that these products caused them to stall so we recommend you to leave them until later in your Atkins journey.
Although they may say they are OK for induction you need to read the ingredients to make sure that all ingredients are listed on the Induction Allowed Foods list.
Many would be fine on a later rung of OWL - berries would be allowed on rung 4 and oats on whatever number grains are on (havent got that far yet so cant remember) and soya flour would be allowed on the legumes rung.
Even www.atkins.com says on their website that these product 'may' stall weightloss and you should consider restricting them if that occurs!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Congratulations on the loss! You're doing GREAT! But I would skip the bars and shakes for now, especially since we second-timers tend to lose more slowly......

All good advise given. You dont want it injest anything that may hold you up once you have lost the water weight and get to the fat loss stage.

Just wanted to pop in and say way to go on the initial 5#!

The first time I tried Atkins, I had the Atkins bars once a day. I could never get into ketosis with them. They really held me up, but I know some people have been able to use them. Maybe you will have better luck!

The other thing to note is that it might be harder to get past the sugar cravings if you feed yourself fake sugar. You might want to cut them out completely til you get past the hard part, and then seeing how they affect you.

Ditto!! Feeding a craving doesn't cure it, it perpetuates it. Starve that sucker and you'll find you get better and better and resisting the cravings to the point where they're really a non-issue. Besides, there are plenty of induction legal things you can eat for a treat that don't require a degree in chemical engineering to pronounce the ingredients of. Jicama, anyone?

I happen to be one of those who successfully deals with sweet cravings by giving myself a splenda treat every evening. But a small one. If I ever get a sweet craving during the day, I immediately grab a piece of cheese or something with fat and tell myself "patience, woman! You're gonna have _____ before bedtime!" (inserting the name of that day's treat) I have yet to cheat!!!!!
