  • Wondering If anyone experienced this on the 2nd go round

    Hi Guys

I am now on my 3rd day of induction and I have been working out every day normally 30 mins of high paced walking and then Circuit Training, Step Aroebics and today cycle class. Now Im normally not a scale junkie or anything but I normally try to weigh once a day during the first week, so that helps me determine if I am being affected by anything that im eating. I can tell you that the scale hasn't moved yet.

Now my very first induction I didn't workout at all and I dropped dramatically. I was wondering should you not workout as much during the first couple of weeks of induction?

I know most people say " Oh your just gaining muscle" and that fine, but is there a taper off period when you start to see the scale go down?

    Thanks

    Natasha

How are you doing with your water consumption? Exercise can make your muscles hold on to water at first until your body realizes that you arent out to hurt it.

Have you taken measurements to be able to compare? You could be losing inches and soon you will have a nice whoosh to go with it. If you can do it......Try putting the scale up until you get to the end of the 2 week induction period so that you dont drive yourself nuts checking it every day. Give your body a chance to adjust and do what it is going to do.

Some are finding that this second time around that we arent losing as quickly as the first time. You are only 3 days into induction and everybody's body is different. As long as you are following the rules of induction I say give it some time and see how your body is going to adjust... and take those measurements if you havent already.

Last time around, I dropped a bunch in induction and continued to do so despite not really working out. This time, I'm working out like a fiend and have only lost about 9 lbs.

Is it the exercise? No. It is the fact that this is my probably 5th try on this woe. It's just coming off more slowly. And I have worked through the frustration and am continuing to be patient.

I hope you measured yesterday, because you WILL see a big difference in two weeks, and that's a promise!!!!

Thats good advice Terry thanks... Now to answer you question....I am probably drinking anywhere from 12 -18 cups of water a day (96- 144 oz). I have taken my measurements from the first day but will not check them until the end of the measurement challenge. I will definetly give my body a change to adjust....Just wondering .....

I would second the water retention. If you just started working out when you started Induction then it sure can be the body holding on to the water. That happened to me the second...err...one of those times. Keep drinking the water and the body will eventually let go of it. And put that scale away for the two weeks

well, in a sense it is the exercise - if you gain muscle weight and lose fat weight, you'll stay the same weight but lose inches.

But, there's no reason not to exercise just to lose the pounds faster, they'll come off more slowly at first and then faster is my guess. Plus, you do'nt want to end up skinny with no muscle tone. It all evens out in the wash - you'll end up at goal weight but actually thinner because you've been exercising.
