  • I Cheated. I need some tough love! :(

    Okay, so here is the story. I am on day thirty one of cheat free atkins. I have done so well! I have lost ten pounds exactly. Well, last night I went to dinner with my hubby to a mexican restaurant. Anyone know of Tijuana Flats? Well, they have awesome salads there, but before I knew it I ordered something else... Well, then since I had "that" (I won't say what I got, but you get the idea...) I also decided what the heck and had a beer. I did stop there, so how bad was I? Have I wrecked it all?

    On a side note, WOW, did I have an upset stomach all night long!!! Was that from eating carbs after being cheat free for a month? Ugh, if that is the effect every time, that could be a huge motivator not to do it again.

    149.8/no weigh/ 119



    1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
    what the rungs mean to me:
    rung 1 - more veggies
    rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
    rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
    rung 4 - berries, melon
    rung 5 - wine -
    rung 6 - beans, hummus
    rung 7 - other fruits
    rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
    rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
    Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
    (on to pre-maintenance)

    Your body is telling you what it now thinks of those nasty little carbs yes. It is good motivation for not cheating again isnt it!!

    You made a few bad choices................ OK

    So now just dust yourself off, drink your water and get back on the wagon. The sooner the better. You more than likely kicked your self out of ketosis but will be back in soon if you get back to plan.

    I have in the past had the same thing happen then the next day think "Im out of ketosis so Ill just have <insert goody of choice> and THEN get back to plan. Then I would think of something else I wanted to have while on my "break" and before I knew it had begun a full fledged binge. Food for thought.

        My GAWD woman..you ate mexican food AND a beer!! Shame on you...ten lashes with a wet noodle! No..... I take that back...noodles filled with carbs which is a no no!

        Actually...

        soooo you slipped. Climb right back on to eating the correct foods. Once evening of slipping isn't worth throwing it all away. And if you slipped outta ketosis you'll be back in no time...loosing those pounds.

          Terry, you are the best! Just the best. That is what I needed to hear. I have done the same thing in the past. (thus second time around club) I have cheated once and then thought, well, since I have cheated I will go ahead and have ...... and then.... for dinner and before I knew it, I wasn't on Atkins anymore. No, that will not happen to me this time. I have a boiled egg and cheese for breakfast. I already have my salad and roast beef "sandwich" ready for lunch. Plus, we are having a dinner party tonight and I have my (slightly different) food already planned out. So, I am tracking for a good day.

          Also, you are definitely right about what my body thinks. I felt absolutely terrible!!! I am on my third bottle of water today and it is finally flushing some of the yuckiness out!

          Thanks for the encouragement. I don't know what I would do without you. Well, yes, I do...

            Sounds like your body is providing the tough love, lol. Don't do it again!

            The key, as Terry says, is to immediately jump back onto the Atkins horse again. You probably did not go out of ketosis, but to make absolutely sure, eat a lot of fat today, get in some exercise no matter how crappy you feel (even just a short walk and some stretching) and keep drinking that water!

            Also, make a note about how awful you feel. Put it in your purse. Carry it around and look at it the next time you are about to do something stupid.............

                Isn't she, though? I just get so happy when I sign on in the morning and she's already been there, posting away! We started at the same time and are progressing at about the same pace, share a lot of the same issues and struggles, and the companionship is fantastic.

                Plus, she gives great advice to others!!!!!!

                  She is very good, All of you are. You, especially, Finelly! You are the one that ventured out to the other boards and lured me into this fabulous group. I feel so much better than I did this morning. I am drinking my water and I had my yummy lunch.

                  Lashes with a wet noodle? Spankings? You guys are tough! I asked for tough love. I sure got it.
