This is the perfect time for the whole family to learn to eat healthy and feeling them quick processed high carb, nutrient depleated instant mashed potatoes or minute rice isn't the answer.
Serve them whole wheat pitas, corn or whole wheat tortillas, roasted potatoes
sweet potatoes or brown rice. I know some folks just don't do BROWN RICE but if you cook it in Chicken Broth, it really tastes great and you can nuke it to warm up later.
