  • Back From Vacation

    Hello All!

I have returned from my vacation and it was a great trip. My mum still doesn't quite get this WOL, but I stayed strong. Her main concern seems to be the saturated fat component, and we agreed to disagree.

The only strays were a tiny amount of donair sauce (donairs on the East coast of Canada are sooooo gooood) and alcohol one night. And over the two weeks I was away, I lost 5 pounds!! I did a lot of walking while home, which seems to have helped. Woo!

    Now back to the grind.

            IngredientsPreparation
            • 6 ounces [190 mL] evaporated milk, very cold [very important]
            • 1/3 cup [80 mL] sugar
            • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] garlic powder
            • 2 tablespoons [30 mL] vinegar
Okay, this sounds good. What do you put it on. I wonder if you can use Evaorated Cream instead and splenda for the sugar.

                Re: Back From Vacation

Donair sauce is used on donairs (of course) which are also known as gyros (usually served with tahini in other places, I think). It's the big meat stick that they carve. They are AMAZING! And make you stink for some time afterwards! They're one of my treats at home, since no one else can make the sauce the same way. But the sauce is very sweet, so I asked for it on the side in a cup and dunked a few pieces of the meat in it. And skipped the pita of course.

Thanks for the welcome backs all! It was a great accomplishment to go on vacation for 2 weeks and actually lose weight. Yay!
