I'm at such a loss. I'm on day 8 of induction, I've done good so far, I've drank my water, stuck to the food list (pretty much) and I've lost 8 pds. I am just having alot of trouble with the foods I can eat. I'm already sick of eggs, sick of meat, sick of cheese, I loved salads, ate them almost every day, now I don't even want that. So what do I do? What else can you eat? I know 1 more week of induction and I could add some other foods but I just don't know if I can do it. I'm sorry to sound like such a whiner. I'm just feeling really down and not real sure what do do next. TOM also here, that don't help at all!

Re: Don't know what to do...
Ok Jesse....I will just tell you what i did to keep from getting bored.....My first week...For the first 3 days...for breakfast...1 atkins bar and sausage and then for the other 4 days: bacon and eggs.
For lunch first 3 days I had Chicken and a veggie an the other 4 days I had either a salad or fish and veggies...I also add shrimp here and there.....I am a seafood lover...
And by dinner I ususally have something small....like a beef steak and a veggie or just an atkins bar. I usually am not all hungry after the gym.
On the weekend I went to an all salad bar resturant and had a large ribeye and shrimp the next day...
To me that seems to be quite a big of variety......I also do that with my exercise so that I don't get bored with that either....
Try to add some variety.....if you can...scan the recipe boards and see what you can find.... I hope this helps someInduction Started: 7/18/05

Rhonda
Definately check out the recipe forum ADBB has to offer and here is another really good lc recipe site:
http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/recipes.html
I am not an egg fan either. So I eat mostly chicken or flax muffins or any leftovers that I have in the fridge for breakfast. Slice turkey meat with swiss cheese roll ups are good and quick too. I do like crustless quiche.
Try new veggies like
cauliflour potatoes (faux taters)
pumpkin sweetened with a little splenda and cinnamon, add a dollop of cream cheese
snap peas
throw some cheese sauce over broccoli or cauliflour
make shrimp alfredo (shrimp or chicken, snap peas with cheese sauce over all)
broccoli salad
lately I have discovered crabmeat and as long as I have been eating well I pick up a package and treat myself to a bowl of crabmeat salad.
There may be recipes for incuction friendly lc shakes in the recipe section as well that would be better than the Atkins drinks.
Lots out there, you just have to take the time to find other things that you hadnt thought of yet. Dont give up!

Re: Don't know what to do...
You know, it could be like induction flu still. Our bodies/brains want a easy comfortable life and so it starts to send us messages like your getting now so we can go back to eating what we want when we want with a built in excuse. You know what I mean.
The office has a candy bowl and the secretary fills it every day with something that I love and you just don't know how many times I have told myself, grab one, one wont hurt.
What you need to do is to find something really interesting to try. How about Pumpkin pie, you can make a pudding that is delicious and all induction friendly. What are you really missing. Pizza, try Bikergoddess recipe. TO DIE FOR. This plan is really not that restrictive and boredom shouldn't be a problem. Chicken Wings.
We can do this. What do you really want to eat, and if the answer is nothing, then its really just that time in the diet where we start to lose our appetite.

Re: Don't know what to do...
you know what girl a lot of that has to do with ketosis!!!.... the feeling of apathy and displeasure about food you get when you first start this is because you are in ketosis. Your tastes will come back for these foods just give it time, drink your water eat your food and hang in. I still have times where NOTHING is good everything looks disgusting and I have no appetite....and you know what ..it is kind of a mixed blessing! Good luck and hang in!!!

Re: Don't know what to do...
I agree wih everyone. TOM can also make you feel ho hum about food; its not exactly the most emotional stable time for a woman! What you are suffering from is lack of excitement, i.e. BOREDOM. When you are low carbing, that is something that you have to try to beware of and why most people quit. The other reason most people quit is because they didn't realize that doing Atkins means you have to actually...well...c-o-o-k food! LOL! I know I had an issue with that in the beginning; still do at times. i was the TV dinner/microwave queen. Find some new recipes or try turning some of your old carby favorites into a low carb meal. If you are still bored by you 14th day, then maybe OWL would be a better way to go although it means slower weight loss and that is ok for some people. Maybe for you too.
