Hey all.... I found out a few hours ago that I'm unfortunately going to have to stop doing the Atkins diet. Last week I went to the doctor and had my bloodwork/physical done and today my dr. said that I'm in the early stages of osteoporosis. Even tho I'm only 31, I was already at risk as it runs in my family. He said my bone density test showed that I have a very low bone density which puts me at a greater risk for fracture. He also said that as of right now I have the bones of a woman in her 60s. Anyway, he's put me on a high calcium supplement and instructed me to begin drinking lowfat milk, eating yogurt, and calcium enriched foods....which are not on the Atkins menu. I'm still going to try to stay lower carb (no bread, refined sugar, flour, etc) but as for strict Atkins, it's just not in my best interests physically now.
