Just wondering how many of you have taken photos of yourself during weight loss for motivation? I was inspired by the photos of Brook and her melting page. Brook if you are out there, you look wonderful!

I am going to take a picture of myself tonight and a picture at least once a month to compare. I think pictures are a wonderful to keep motivated. I guess I am not too much into measuring. I can tell by the way my clothes fit and the scale helps too, even if it doesn't move. As long as it doesn't go up.

I did...I took my first pics on July 18,2005. I took one facial view, one side view, and a full body view...

I will probably take one set of pics per month. BTW.....Brook inspired me as well....

Re: Brook-Photos of weight loss for motivation

Well, I have not gotten the nerve to take the photos yet, but I have been tracking on www.mvm.com. I love making a model of myself and seeing how I look at highest weight, now, and goal weight. Cannot wait to get to goal weight, I'll be quite the hottie. Its a free site, so I encourage others to give it a shot. I printed each of the above stages and keep it in my purse to reflect on as needed.

I do have recent photos, but I'm choosing not to use them as weight loss guides right now. Mainly using them as memories with my family. When I've lost a good amount of weight, maybe I'll enjoy seeing them compared to little me. But for now, I don't want to scare myself from having photos taken at family events. I want to be sure I'm an active part in making memories with my son.

          Thank you very much!!

For me, the photos were really important. It was a driving force for me to make sure that there were changes and progress in each picture. It was fantastic motivation for me to see changes from month to month even when that stupid scale wouldn't budge. I couldn't feel progress, but I could certainly see some and that kept me going.

I'd love to see more picture diary's out there! Get them goin'!!!

          Continued success!

Well, I guess I better get out the camera and take my before picture. I was thinking I could either do it monthly or with each 5 - 10 lbs lost, which ever comes first, since I have about 21 more pounds to lose. Brook's picture diary is awesome and inspiring to all that look at it. I will try to start one too and hopefully have that goal picture up along with the rest.

I wouldn't worry about the scale as long as it motivates you. I weigh daily in the mornings and even if I don't lose, it still motivates me. If I can keep the weight off that I lost, I am happy. Stalls don't bug me too much because I can see that everyone goes through them and then woosh, off it comes. I still didn't get around to those pictures. I kind of forgot. I will have to set up the tripod with the timer to take them.

Yes, I agree! Brook's melting page was very impressive and I sent it to a few co-workers and my friends that keep wanting to lose weight. I think she did a fantastic job!

                    Yeah Brook!

Yeah I remember the first time I ever saw Brooks site. My friend Dar and I (who have always been on one form of a diet or another together) were surfing around and we came to Brooks site. I yelled at Dar that she had a double and she had to come see. Dar comes in, takes a look at Brooks before pic and says "yeah we do look alike". Then we saw the after pics....and decided we hated her...so anyway.......

                      lol love ya Brook!

Sheesh. Now I have to wipe off my moniter.

S'okay though. It needed a good cleaning anyway

                          Hey Brook!

Just a quick question. During the times you were taking your pictures when did you really start feeling excited about losing the weight and feeling better about yourself? Was it at your first month? Second month? Third month? (Do you remember your thoughts about this WOE with each picture? Did you ever have any doubts?)

My husband and I are going to take our pictures once a month and I just wanted to figure out when I will start feeling that way. Of course, it is too soon now, I know...but it just gives me something to look forward to.

Thanks for any info. This is encouraging for me and I'm sure others.

Re: Brook-Photos of weight loss for motivation

                            Hey there, Kat!

I got excited about the changes from the first two pictures. I could see a big difference in those two, but then when I took the 3rd and got my hair done? HECK YEAH!

The only doubts I ever had were in myself, and then I'd put myself in check (with the help of this gorgeous, obnoxious little girl in my house) and keep my nose to the grindstone. Calling it "too hard" or whining about it taking "too long" was unacceptable to me in Sammy-Jammy's presence. I just couldn't do it.

I remember my thoughts about my lifestyle changes and whatnot for some of the pictures, but not all. I do, however, remember knowing and thinking that there were improvements with each picture taken - and they were tangible evidence to me that I was on the right path.

I'll bet you an exercise video that you'll recognize changes in yourself faster than you think you will! You'll be amazed if you start a picture diary at how important it becomes to do everything you can to make sure there IS a difference in the next one.

I finally got around to taking my before picture, in a swimsuit mind you. If I end up looking as hot as Brook does, I might get the nerve to post all my pics on a link for you all to view. Hopefully, I will meet goal by mid Nov. I plan on taking one picture a month. ~~PJ
