  • Introduction time

    Hi everyone,

Since I find myself spending more time in this forum than the induction forum, I figured I should introduce myself.....

My name is Debra and this is my second (serious) go at Atkins. I have had many half-hearted attempts over the last year or so but my mind set just was not there. This time I am truly ready as I know what my downfalls were .... mostly I would get bored. So this time I bought Dana Carpender's books and have some great recipe websites. So I am armed and dangerous!

Secondly, I will no longer pay attention to those who tell me that I don't need to lose any weight. I know my body and what is right for me, so I will only listen to myself and my goal is to lose 20 pounds.

My excercise routine is already in place.. I use my eliptical machine every morning for 30 minutes and am working towards upping it to 45. I do resistance dumbell training using a routine from a great book called "Smart Girls Do Dumbells" and I walk my dog. So I think that aspect of my life is in the right direction and has helped me to "not look like I need to lose weight".

What I have never done is measure and after reading the threads in this forum I can see the importance of measuring versus weighing, so I will befriend a tape measure and keep a weekly log.

So, all of that being said.... I am off to the grocery store this morning and it is Day 1 of induction for me.

    Debra

*lol* I have to look for that book! Sounds terrific
What kind of dumbells do you use? I've never thought of doing weight training outside a gym, but maybe that's an idea for me.

What is your goal? Weight-wise, fitness...?

Welcome to STAC. We've all been there, literally.. and we are all determined to stay on this WOE this time around.

        Hi Debra Gara!

        Welcome to STAC!!

Be sure to check out the stickys at the top of the forum. They are full of helpful information for us second time arounder people. It always helps to take a little time for a refresher read!

There are a few challenges around here that you may be interested in signing up for. Take your measurements and log them into Mybodycomp.com (a free online account) and every 2 weeks we re take those measurements and keep a running log on one of the forementioned stickys to see how many inches the group loses as a whole just for fun. As you know, its those inches lost that you can see, not that number on the scale. We just started another 2 week session this week (Tuesday).

STAC has challenged one another to consume a gallon of water each day. Check in with the water thread each day for motivation to help you chug it down. You can commit to whatever amount you feel your body needs.

Also.....you gotta check in once in awhile. If you dont we are currently using the siamese samurai cats to find you and drag you back here! Finelly keeps them at her house and she is not afraid to let them loose!

                Re: Introduction time

                Thanks for the warm welcome.

I just returned from my grocery shopping trip and had an interesting revelation, (yup, the light finally went on - LOL)....... as I was picking up a pound of butter and thinking to myself that this is what one pound of fat looks like, it finally dawned on me that one pound of fat is a lot of cubic inches!! So I marched over to the notions section and found myself a rather friendly looking cloth tape measure with which I intend to become very friendly with. Now i am off to mybodycomp.com as Terry suggested and get an account signed up.
