  • Unavoidable bathing suit weekend

I’m going to a Bachelorette party near Palm Springs this weekend. Chaise lounge chairs by the pool, drinks, dancing, etc.
If anyone of normal weight read that they would think, cool, that’ll be fun. Probably without a second thought. But to me, the idea of having to be in a bathing suit around a bunch of thin girls, dancing in a night club that was about 90degrees inside last time I was there, fills me with dread.

It really sucks. I was trying to think of ways out of it, but I already said I was coming. Instead of looking forward to a relaxing weekend in the sun I am trying to figure out how late I can get there and how I can avoid my fat hanging out (sarongs) and looking modest yet no over dressing for dancing.

It also makes me feel sad that I really should be looking forward to this like the rest of my girlfriends. I’m still working at my weight loss and some of them have noticed and complimented me which feels great, however there are several girls that I don’t know that are going and I just am dreading certain parts.

I’m about 28 pounds lighter than last August when we went for a different B. Party so that is a good thing, but I just “wish” I had already lost more!

    Anyway…that is this weeked…..hmmm…

    (((Californiacasey)))

I can sympathize with you in the point of not wanting to show off the body that we were given in a swimsuit. But lets not let the mental game get us down, shall we? I bet if you can focus on the good, the fact that you're down 28 pounds and probably feeling like walking on air, you're face and whole image will show it and once you get there you'll be focusing on the friends and festivities around you!

Smile, Sweetheart, you're doing great! So go and dress yourself up in the most pretty and festive attire you can find and you go have fun! You lost 28 pounds! Show it like you mean it and don't try to miss out on the fun with your friends that if you stayed home you'd regret hearing about it from the others.

California.......... I am attending a conference next week for 3 days. I was told to bring a bathing suit this year. Everyone I went with last year went swimming one evening and I sat on the edge of the pool and dipped my feet because I didnt realize that this would be an option for us.

This year I am bringing my suit and enjoying that pool with the rest of them. 2 years ago I decided that I was no longer going to lose out on the fun I could be having with my kids when I take them to the beach or lake. And we had a blast all summer. When they were little I took them as well but always wore shorts instead of a suit and as they were little staying in the shallow waters it was no big deal but they are much older now and we enjoy swimming together. And that requires a suit.

There is always someone else looking worse than I am and I realized that no one cared. So why should I?

I will think about it and be conscious that I am not a skinny little person in a bikini but I like myself and respect the fact that I will be the smaller person I want to be sometime. So why not enjoy life on my way down the scale, ........................ er measuring tape? My friends dont care and would rather that I join in with them. They like me for who I am.

Life is just way to short to lose out on all the fun.

So I say.............Hold your head up and have a wonderful time!!

And fill me in on all the fun you had when I return at the end of next week. I really want to hear how you made it. <hug>

Hope it goes well for you! Don't be late. Go and enjoy time with your friends. Don't let your weight issues cause you to miss out and special moments! That is my biggest rule for myself. My weight will not make me miss out. Besides, think of all the calories you will burn dancing and swimming. You could come back and tell us you've lost another 5 pounds!!

            Re: Unavoidable bathing suit weekend

Ok Ladies...I took your advice and went and had a good time. I tried not to be overly self-conscious of my body and enjoyed myself. The dancing was ok. It was really hot and I had on a cute brown boho type skirt. My arms do not look good in tank tops, so I had a brown shirt on with sleeves. So anyway, I was 25 lbs lighter than last year, but it was another wake-up call that I have a long way to go.

And I cheated. I didn't binge or anything, but I did drink and had some off-diet foods. But I am back on and going strong.

Holding up (the drink I could really use right now) ** Here's to the next Palm Springs weekend that I can wear my bathing suit and sleeveless tanks and not even give it a second thought.

            Thanks all!

Way to go! You should feel good about yourself you have already lost an amazing amount of weigh I mean think of it as 102 sticks of butter! that is a whole lot of fat!!!!! Way to keep your chin up! I can relate. We just got back from the beach and there were many pretty thin girls there. I didn't care. I just had a good time on the beach....We went out a couple times and i wore a skirt(kudos for me) I never wear one! I liked it. I even got hit on at the tiki bar, drunk guy but nonetheless, it was nice to see someone noticed me
Caution I BITE! clicky clicky..its tricky rikki!
