  • Back to Curves!

I rejoined the original Curves that I used to love. I had changed locations when one went in closer to home but it wasnt the same. So now..... after I get back from my conference next week I will be heading back to circuit training.

And I am really looking forward to it!

Time to make some inches disappear!!!

Hi Terry! Congratulations on rejoining Curves... that is awesome! You'll notice a big difference when you do the circuit training again, i am sure. I am thinking of joining the one here with my mom when she moves out from NJ. I don't know much about it, but i have heard good things about the atmosphere there from a friend of my mom's. Can you tell me a little about it? How long are the workouts and what do they consist of? Thanks!!!

        Re: Back to Curves!

Here is a link for Curves.

It is circuit training for women. It consists of a 30 minute work out with exercise machines in a circle. You spend 30 seconds on a machine that targets a certain area of your body, then step on a recovery board where you walk or jog or what ever for the next 30 seconds and then you head for the next piece of equipment and so on until your half hour is up. Depending on the amount of equipment the franchise has it usually takes 2 or 3 times around to make the 30 minutes up.

Music is playing and a voice instructs you to make your change every 30 seconds.

I like it a lot and the time flies when you are there. What you get out of it depends on what you put into it. You increase your repititions on each machine as you are able. I really built up a lot of strength when I was going.

So glad I am heading back!

Yeah I'm joining too as soon as winter sets in, can't see myself plowing through 20 ft of snow in 40 below zero weather for my daily walks!

DragonflyMoon, I joined with my Mom last year and we have a blast together. We go 3 times a week. As the pounds come off I'm seeing good muscle definition, so while it's not the same as doing aerobics for 30min then lifting weights for 45min at the gym (used to do that, Mom didn't want to join a "real" gym), I feel like I'm getting a nice little workout. Best bennie my Mom is right there with me and she's found a HUGE difference in her flexibility and mobility. She's doing things she hasn't done for years.

I also walk daily, usually 2-3 miles.

Hi Goin2Bgood... thanks for the response! I think it will be a great thing to do with mom. It sounds like both you and your mom get a lot out of it. My mom is turning 60 next year... and just needs to lose a bit of weight and gain some flexibility and such. So it is wonderful to hear how good it has been for your mom!
