  • Jicama ideas?

I've browsed other threads, but I was wondering what people did with their jicama. Also, how do you peel it???

I've got the apple thing down, but i'm more looking for dips and stuff, that you don't have to cook. Any ideas?

I make a cinnamon almond cream cheese dip for raw jicama that's divine. Cream cheese, a couple of drops of almond extract, a shake or two of cinnamon and some splenda. Sometimes I'll use Vanilla davinci's instead of splenda though.

I also do a sour cream/salsa dip for it that I use when I bake jicama with lime juice and cajun seasonings. Good stuff.

How long do you cook it? I tried it for the first time this weekend and I'm just not sure???? I tried Finelly's way of frying in a pan. I used butter, cinnamon, splenda. It was okay, but I wasn't impressed. The cream cheese dip sounds good Brook! Maybe I'll give that a shot.

Knicknack, I peeled mine like a potato.

If you're waiting for the jicama to soften - ummm, dont' hold your breath. LOL It stays crunchy no matter how long you cook it.

Yep, that would explain it. Maybe I should try some different seasonings with it. Not go for sweet, but something else. Hmmmm....
