  • Look at this menu, oh my!

I almost NEVER comment on what people eat, but I must say the below menu is just gross. I have been in a meeting all day, and all meals were eaten in our conference. This is what I saw a coworker eat today:

    Breakfast
Sausage, egg and cheese McMuffin - McDonalds
    2 Hashbrowns - McDonalds

    Snack
    1/2 chocolate galzed donut

    Lunch-
    Order of fries with cheese
    1 slice of pepperoni
    1 slice of plain pizza

    Snack
    choclate glazed donut

I was so shocked at what this person ate. I mean, do people really eat like this??????? I could only imagine what is for dinner!

Yep, people eat like that. Perfect example of how we get fat in the first place. So what about your menu? Were you able to stay with this woe throughout the conference?

Hi Sarah!!! I was mad this AM because I was running late and didn't have time to cook. But I still did good.

      Breakfast
2 eggs wirh cheese and sausage from Burger King.

      Snack
      Skipped

      Lunch
Chicken caesar salad - Atkins style of course

      Snack
      Cheese and pepperoni

I got A LOT of crap from everyone in the meeting about the way I eat. I just kept saying how my cholesterol, sugar, blood pressure, weight is all a huge improvement...they would just smile and disagree that it is healthy - as they ate their donuts LOL.

Sounds to me like you did excellent. How rude of them, I guess they didn't take a look at the foods they were eating. Unhealthy in capital letters.

Great job staying strong! Otherwise, how are you doing and how have you been?

Good job Kathi - You did really well and did not succumb to the donut machine! I find it hardest to stick to plan when other folks are eating around me..

Funny that they would critisize your SALAD and eggs, whilst eating pizza and donuts.. too funny

Re: Look at this menu, oh my!

I have been around people for over 2 years now, eating whatever they want in front of me. It's like having drinks in front of an alcoholic - but I remain strong and don't cave. I don't always remain so strong, but most of the time I eat my way and feel great.

I have been very stressed as DH and I plan to build a home. LOTS to do and LOTS to worry about. I feel tired a lot, but I keep going and don't cheat. I can't - I am an emotional eater and once I start I am a hard habit to break!

Re: Look at this menu, oh my!

Here's what I'd eat on a normal day before Atkins:

Breakfast - 6 or 8 thick pieces of white toast and butter with cheese melted on top, or just buttered toast dipped in hot chocolate, or 2 big bowls of crappy cereal (about 4 cups of cereal and 2% milk)

                Snack - chocolate bar

Lunch - double cheesburger and a litre of pop and large fries

snack - some sort of pastry or another chocolate bar or a granola bar

Dinner - a whole pot/box (I kid you not) of kraft dinner...eaten without sharing! or about 5 cups of hamburger helper with more pasta than meat. or a whole large pizza from pizza hut.

Dessert - ice cream or cake or other sweet dessert

Note how there's no veggies in there. I'd sometimes eat fruit but maybe about once a week and usually I'd overdo a single sitting of that too, like a whole bag of cherries (3 quarts) or 3 bananas or nectarines.

Mostly it was the pasta that really got me. Our family is huge into rice and potatoes and my kid loves rice. Many nights we'd make a big stew pot full of rice and work off of that for days mixed in with every meal. This was all well and good except I could eat 3 cups of cooked rice in a sitting. Every dinner time we'd mound our plates full at least twice before we thought we were full. think of that two huge plates of spaghetti about 6 cups in total of just noodles not including the sauce. And then there was the pop i drank all the time. I used to have a 12 pack a day habit with Pepsi.

Now that I'm doing Atkins, I don't have the scary sharp pain in my belly I used to get after eating all that food at once and don't feel so lethargic when all the blood rushes to my stomach to try and digest what I had eaten. I truly did eat for comfort to fill up other holes in my life and I recognise that is one of the most pertinent dangers to my success.

Does anyone ever look in folks grocery basket. I try to see who has the worst diet, who might be on low carb, and who gets the award for the most junk. When I see someone who is overweight, and has nothing but frankenfoods in their basket, I want to toss in a copy of DANDR. LOL

Re: Look at this menu, oh my!

Of course, you realize, don't you, that:

                    1. Atkins doesn't work
                    2. Atkins is unhealthy.
                    3. All we eat is bacon and egg
                    4. We don't get enough veggies
                    5. It's bad for our cholesterol

Just making sure that you aren't comparing the chocolate glazed donut menu with ours, and thinking we are on the right track.....that would be very very silly....

Re: Look at this menu, oh my!

I have always been big- since 2nd grade. I never really ate that much. I have always ate a lot of veggies and good foods but I think maybe it is just my genetics(sp) in combination with my "lazy" lifestyle. (VIDEO GAMES should have been illegal! I started playing when I was young. I don't play now but wish I would have been more active as a child)I want so much to be healthy and able to go hiking and jogging and do all the things thin people can. I would like to be thin however I don't care so much for that as I do just being HEALTHY.
BF and I go shopping and it is CRAZY how different our foods are... he is soooo tiny and eats frozen pizza, ramen noodles, hot pockets, white bread, brownies, etc. He is supportive of my dieting habits we keep separate cabinets for his "off limit foods"! lol
But when we are in the store I always bet people think all the fresh stuff is his and all the frankenfoods are mine!
Caution I BITE! clicky clicky..its tricky rikki!
