    Hi all,

I'm happy to announce that I've now lost my age in weight - 30 pounds! I've reached the point where people who don't know I'm doing Atkins are commenting that I've lost weight, so it shows (nice to have the reinforcement since my brain is still trying to convince me that I look the same). There is a weird pressure that accompanies other people noticing though - like now they'll know if I fail (again!). But that's tiny compared to my happiness at having lost 30.5 pounds. Yippee!! And I'm loving my new clothes (the old pants are almost hanging off me) which are already getting to be a bit too big. I only bought them a month ago!

    Congrats!!! That is great!!!

Any secrets to your success? We have similar stats - seems like the scale is moving so slow for me this time around

Thanks for the congrats, but give me a minute as I adjust to someone asking me for weight loss tips! OK, I'm good. I think the biggest thing for me this time around is that I'm not taking my success as a license to cheat. Last time I would have pizza on Sunday or allow myself something "special" sometimes. I was still losing weight but would go up and down a lot. This time I'm much more steady in my weight loss which is keeping me on track. And that fact that I know that those "treats" will mess with my system. I'm religious about drinking water, I've almost completely cut out pop (I'll only rarely have a can whereas before I drank it a lot). I'm keeping my calories higher than my BMR. I'm better about exercise this time, although I still need to work on that. I think in general I just have an "eyes on the prize" mentality - knowing that I can't go back to my old way of eating/living. Not much concrete in there, but I think it's mostly a mental change this time around.

This is what I was referencing in my cheating post! I think the mental difference makes the biggest difference. Having to do it vs. wanting to do it, for example!
