  • Update and help needed....

    It has been SEVEN weeks already! And I have NOT cheated, not once. But, I've only lost 13 pounds....I know - I know - I should think of it as an accomplishment. But the first time I did Atkins I lost 22 pounds in 3 weeks. I'm trying not to complain.

    I need to up my water and exercise.

    Also, yesterday I was parked at a stop-light and there was a car next to me with two 17-yr-old looking guys. Their windows are open, and I hear them say - "Get her attention! No, look at all those kids with her. Well, she must be the babysitter because she's our age. Beep!" Wow. I must not look as bad as I thought, if they thought I was 17 and were beeping at me! I can't wait to shed even more weight...

    I need advice. I'm going to Barbados for 5-6 days next week. I have no idea if I'm going to be able to stick to this WOE while I'm there. I can bring a few things with me, but we're flying stand-by with two babies...so the less I have to carry the better. I looked at our hotel's menu, and it seems the only two things I would be able to eat are steak, and a ceasar salad with anchovy dressing (blek!). So, I guess I could go with the mindset that I'm going to have that for every meal...but is that realistic? Help!!!

    Great job on your loss so far. With regard to the slow weight loss, it seems to be a second time around issue. Lots of us are experiencing that. I have only lost 13 pounds also. I have been exercising religiously, drinking my water, etc. I had some cheats a while back, but nothing these days. So, just stay strong and take it as it comes. Losing is better than gaining.

    With regard to Barbados, do they serve hamburgers or anything that you could just eliminate the bread? It would be hard going into vacation thinking that you can only have two things for a week. Will you have a fridge in your hotel room? If so, I would do some grocery shopping when you get there for some atkins friendly snacks. Cheese, pepperoni, pork rinds, salsa, veggies. The works.

      We will have a fridge in our hotel....but I have no idea about how readily cheese (or even milk for our babies) is available in the area. I guess that will be my first step - to try and locate a local grocery store.

      I know the hotel does NOT serve hamburgers. They have a lot of fish on their menu, and unfortunately I don't like fish.

        You should be proud of yourself! I would be happy to lose 13 lbs in 7 wks. I too am losing slower this time around. I have only lost 3.4 lbs the first two weeks and lost 8 lbs the first time. I know is will be slower going but I am sticking to it. You are doing great and just need some encouragement to hang in there. I am sure I will get to that point too and will be whining to you all for encouragement later too.

        I figure there should be salads you can order with chicken. Is there a place you can eat that is not at the hotel? I am sure you can find something.
