  • Saturday Check In

I know that some of us are out having a really nice anniversary weekend but what is everyone else doing today? Any special plans or just hanging out doing the usual grocery shopping catching up around the house kind of weekend?

It was a hectic week at my house so I am in the latter group. Im about to cook up some bacon ahead and make a crustless quiche. Will make some flax muffins if all goes well too. My kitchen stash of low carb goodies has depleted to almost nothing.

I did managed to sway a little at the conference and partake of fruits and whole grains.... not induction foods and some of my cravings are back but I can whip that monster back into shape with a few solid days back at induction.

I am heading back to Curves this week and am looking forward to it. I have lost all the strength that I had gained when going before. Not to mention all those lost inches that crept back on. Since I am losing so slowly this time the only saving grace is going to be losing inches quicker and just walking isnt doing it.

Back to work in 11 days and I want to be sure that I am solid in my resolve and preparation, since I am a working manager in a kitchen.

Wow, I have almost written a book here. Thanks for reading this far as I think I am giving myself a little pep talk while typing this morning!

    Have a great day!!

loser.......... yuck! 16 hour day at work on your feet can really ruin a Saturday

Lauren..... does it help to take pepperoni chips or something else instead? I love the smell of the popcorn when I go to the movies too. I am sure to have a full belly before going and take the pep chips for an emergency snack. Hang tough if you do go.

Sharron... Reminding myself is a foreign concept to me as well. Love that not hungry feeling myself. But my body reminds me in spades if I have waited too long and sets me on my butt with light headedness and nausea until I get something in my belly.

Enjoy your last days before work starts, Terry! I'm with you on the LC stash...my flax meal's getting low, and I'm out of a few things I like to have on hand...oh come payday, quick!

Rikki...hope work's not to bad for ya...16hours? ugh! Hang tough!

Lauren...I was the same way, sometimes during certain TOM...I've taken cinnamon/splenda spieced up pork rinds in with me. They remind me of Taco Bell's "cinnamon crisps". Maybe you can give them a whirl.

Sharon...have a great one! Reminding one self to eat...now there's something to consider to be true with this WOE

Natasha....crossing everything possible for a good check in tomorrow..have fun at the ball games.

Today, I'm washing the car and then this afternoon we're taking the girls over to the county fair to see all the barnyard animals and such...it's free admission and great entertainment.

Tonight I'll be going through a few journals and lists I have and getting primed up for the 6-week challenge starting tomorrow....I'm so nervous! lol! I usually have made it 4 weeks and then given out for some reason, excuse, or another. I NEED to keep on it.

              Stay strong everyone!

                Everyone sounds pretty busy today!

                  Re: Saturday Check In

I went for a walk at 5 this morning, fed my yard birdies, am packing up the SUV and trailer, chatting last minute with my bride and the photog, best man, MC etc. Performing a wedding gig out of town. Tomorrow will be the BIGGEST challenge for me yet as we are going to the fair, GAAAAAAAA! I will have to walk on by all those corn dogs and elephant ears, corn on the cob, and fresh baked bread. I am going to go with a full tummy so it won't grate on me! Then we are going to see Mr and Mrs Smith (so I can hate Angelina and Brad for what they did to Jennifer up close) and Star Wars, and the smell of popcorn in there drives me wild. I am not taking legal snacks either because I figure, i wouldn't be eating them if I weren't at the fair and the movie, so I will just buy my regular bottle of lemon perrier and be on my way. No cheats, no temptations..no...no...I say NO temptations! heh heh

                    Re: Saturday Check In

Starmaker. sounds like a great day out tomorrow for you - have fun! I've stopped going to the movies because I just can't stand the smell of popcorn and nachos, I've never craved that stuff, just makes me feel sick. And I won't pay 4 Euros for a softdrink in a cinema, even if it's diet soda.

It's already Saturday evening over here and I'm planning on playing board games tonight.

Tomorrow I'll try to get some work done on an old Gaggia espresso machine I am refurbishing and, if the weather allows so, get out the mountainbike for a tour to a flea market. Oh and that pile of books I want to read...

                      Re: Saturday Check In

                      Hi all! I'm back!

We had a wonderful 24 hours but it was, of course, too short!

We got to laguna beach around noon yesterday, checked into our hotel, and went wandering. We hit the big art fair and an art festival, then the shops and galleries. All on foot - probably about 8 miles, total.

Then we went back to our hotel and lay down for a bit to rest our feet. At 7, we went to The Beach House for a fabulous dinner. The filet mignon LITERALLY was melting in my mouth. They were fine about substituting veggies for their famous mashed taters. I had one glass of red wine, by choice, not because I gave in to a craving. I had planned it.

Then we went for a long walk on the beach before heading back to the hotel to hang out in the jacuzzi together.

This morning we got up and went to a coffee place for breakfast after another walk on the beach. I had a bagel with egg salad on it. Without the bagel.

We got home a few hours ago and I took a really long nap. Might be because of the wine last night, or because I probably walked 10 miles in one day!

It was really wonderful, though. We only bought one piece of art, but just LOOKING and WALKING around among beautiful pieces is sooo good for the soul!

Anyhoo, I'm back, proof that you can go on a mini vacation with nary a cheat. And that if you decide to have a glass of wine, it doesn't throw you off the woe!

Oh, and TOM arrived this morning. When I put on my jeans, just out of the dryer, they almost slid down to my hips, so that thing about needing to only wear them once before washing them so they'll fit? Gone. I'm a sagger.
